Reviewing some Christmas F1 books 4:36pm on 17 Dec 2009 I have to agree that a good book at Christmas is vital to read whilst Sound of Music and James Bond are playing in the back ground.

I have to concur about James Allen on F1 - 2009: A Revolutionary Year, I like all off your blogs (BBC, Planet F1 etc.) as they are insightful but as I followed last season I did wondered if I would want to re-read much of the web that I have already surfed... but I have not put this down and it has made a few train journeys go quickly. It provided background the reasons behind some of the 'strange' decisions made last year. The mix of the race day reviews and the politics is an enticing read.

A year in review then ask Santa for this book.

BBC F1 film wins prestigious award 10:20pm on 25 Nov 2009 Guys well deserved, right to the last game, as the motorcycles started going round the Surround sound as cranked up to the start of that classic theme tune....

Shiver down the spine for every GP this year right from the start.... Brilliant.
Ted Kravitz - the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix from the pit lane 1:07pm on 07 Nov 2009 Most interesting part about Brawn is they did not make a song and Dance about their development plans, just quietly went on doing the business, cool strategy even off of the race course.

Ted, I think that Mole needs to give you a special project of doing an in depth analysis of the 4 new teams, we have heard very little about the currant state of each one. With BMW waiting on the sidelines understanding who will, who might and who will-not make it to next year is worthy of a Mole Column.
Alonso to Ferrari could herald golden age 5:24pm on 30 Sep 2009 Nothing is as simple as many of these comments make out, at the start of this year we had Jenson, 6 straight wins and then problems because of the way the car braking changed... ever so slightly.

So remember that the driver alone does not make a team (I know we all know this) which appears to have been forgotten in this thread. Alonso and Massa will go head to head but it will often depend upon how a driver can react to the feel of the ultimate car as it develops and his style adjusts.

Add in no refuelling and one drivers reactions to a heavy car v. a light car and F1 suddenly becomes fascinating and we won't know the result until they all sit in their cars and the 5 red lights go out...
Ted Kravitz - the Singapore Grand Prix from the pit lane 11:29am on 30 Sep 2009 Two world Champions in any team is bound to cause problems, if the team have challenges like in this year and one car has new effective parts and the other doesn't which driver gets the new parts? If one driver needs the support of the other at a race.. who will decide which driver takes which role?

Everything being equal... then this might be an interesting move, but it is very really equal in F1, Brawn is full of rumours of the two drivers engineers not sharing information for the good of the team if it gives them an advantage for one driver...

I can only say... Martin, make sure you understand the risks!!!
Fighting my fears on the track 12:18pm on 09 Sep 2009 You are absolutely correct to be nervous, I would love the challenge but too risk adverse to do a good job of it.

However the adrenaline and drive will see you though it... what a cool job you have!!!

Great article as ever... do you agree that removing refuelling from next year will take away one of the biggest strategy tools. It relies on technology, defines the running speed of the car which can vary with fuel and tyre wear making the lack of overtaking somewhat acceptable. What else can have such a profound effect on a race outcome.

Next year we have aero on cars that still make overtaking or at least close driving impossible, no KERs to give a boost, no flexibility in the fuel levels which means one thing... cars following each other for 100+ miles on a Sunday afternoon waiting for the guy in front to make a mistake.

Never more will a good quali position be required.

Or am I missing something?
My photo diary from the European Grand Prix 8:56pm on 25 Aug 2009 Guys, Easyjet on the BBC dollar is about right... but was Ross on Easy jet, probably means the Virgin deal has fallen through for definite then :-) Hard work but worth the growing viewing figures I am sure.

BBC Sport's fuel-adjusted European GP grid 12:19pm on 24 Aug 2009 It is a real shame that we are going to miss what is for me a great opportunity for a team with a slight speed disadvantage, an opportunity to win a GP.... I am talking about the loss of re-fuelling next year.

Removing this aspect of the GP for me takes away a core aspect of GP strategy and ability to gain a place or two on circuits that you cannot overtake on.

This whole comment list is only interesting because of fuel loads something that will be surely missed next year and collect many comments when next years cars finish on the order they started in.
Pick your classic Belgian Grand Prix 7:08pm on 20 Aug 2009 Folks Please make it the 1998 race, Mr Schu was a terrible, bullying driver until he had grown up and matured... then we saw the brilliance of the real driver... seeing the 1995 will just make me grind my teeth....

Apologies to the Michael fans, no point in arguing it is just my opinion :-)
