Button's championship is due to an outrageous set of circumstances alligning together, along with a little skill. I very much doubt he will be in that august company come 2010.
The remarkable story of Brawn GP 3:01pm on 19 Oct 2009 Its good for Button to enjoy his brief moment in the sun after years of mid-pack mediocrity. To be honest I feel normal service will be resumed next year and Button will be cast back from whence he came. But hopefully he has silenced a few of his detractors.

Congratulations Brawn and Button! Its a helluva story.
Button, Barrichello & Vettel: my take on the title rivals 1:54pm on 17 Oct 2009 For me Hamilton is firmly on the path to greatness but to elevate him to that exalted level already is a little premature. He needs multiple championships for that and at 24 with his raw talent, increasing maturity and one under his belt already I'm sure he will get there.

Maybe this blog tells us all we need to know about Button. Overshadowed by the Lewis even during his own coronation. Yes he will deserve the crown as he will be the highest point scorer but it will not live long in the memory and for many his desperate struggle as his superior car performance has been eroded just confirm his 2nd tier status.
Are sportspeople right to retaliate? 1:17pm on 08 Oct 2009 I think football louts use the anaonymity of a large crowd in true cowards fashion to say and do things they wouldn't dream of in real life for fear of getting their heads kicked in.

If Lewis is already in a winning car driving for a team that has a habit of producing competitive cars I hardly see the point of leaving that winning environment to drive for a, respectfully, lesser team just to earn 'respect' as you put it. I think through dint of his performances he has plenty of respect already. He is a WDC who is bold, brave and often brilliant. If that doesn't earn some peoples' respect then they are not worth bothering with.

Who knows what will happen in the future. Very few drivers have driven for one team their whole careers so it might well happen one day. But to leave McLaren just to satisfy a few malcontents would be pure folly.

Alonso to Ferrari could herald golden age 7:56pm on 30 Sep 2009 I hope next season proves to be an all-time classic washing from memory the dull interlude of 2009 where mediocrity has prevailed. All the ingredients seem to be in place.

I foresee civil war at Ferrari when Alonso, surprised by Massa's speed, tries to blackmail the team! Massive hissy fits and tantrums from Alonso. It could get nasty, really nasty!!

Lewis will have his hands full with a resurgent Kimi. They will drive each other on to superlative new levels. Hamilton has never lost to a team-mate in any formulae - and he's in no mood to start now!!

He's almost as experienced as Lewis is.

With the heavyweights hamstrung (no pun intended), are those with a Championship winning car all season any more deserving?

No is the simple answer.

Rubens in equal machinery underperformed in the first half of the season.

Webber and Vettel - neither has sustained a Championship challenge in race winning cars despite their vociferous supporters claiming they would 'if only they were in a better car' Blah blah. They've been shown up for what they are - 2nd tier. Hopefully Webber will now bury some of his resentment at others because now he has had that opportunity - and blown it. Vettel's reputation is built on one race - Monza 08 whilst being chased by .....Kovi. Lets not forget he is only marginally less experienced than Lewis now (5 races) so that argument won't wash anymore.

Button is deserving because he has proved to be the best of a relatively poor crop this year.

When the real talent tramples all over him next year his limited abilities will be brought into sharper focus but this year of those capable of winning he has been superior.
