Untrue. Recent cuts in England's Health Service were not implemented in Scotland because the cuts "applied to a different budget".
Rises were translated without reference to particular budgets.
Scotland isn't worth keeping.
Responses to Megrahi release 12:08pm on 21 Aug 2009 Scottish pathological buckpassers are already trying to blame the English for yet another Scottish bad decision.

If Scots had any guts they would be independent now and taking the wrap for devastating the banking industry and for this al-Megrahi release.

However, Scots have no guts which is why the SNP changed policy to delay the Scottish independence referendum until 2010, as soon as it had a whiff of victory in the Scottish Parliament. It has been delayed even further, to 2011, to give the English even more time to bail Scotland out.

England's largesse will not prevent the Scots making sure the English get all the blame for Scottish crassness, however.

Now we revert to disagreement. Whether it be islamic terrorism inadvertently affecting Scotland, as with Pan Am 103, or devolution, only Scottish opinion is reported.

Accepted, David Cameron mincing up to Scotland to blame the English for everything, and "taking the Scots for granted", is not widely reported, but that kind of thing is only intended to massage Scotch grievance anyway. However, the moving south of the Anglo-Scottish border in the Solway Firth to give control of fisheries and windfarm planning to the Scottish Parliament is studiously avoided by the deceitful British media, aslo.

I fail to see why parts of England should come under the inferior Scottish legal system that oversaw the al-Megrahi case.

Cripes we actually agree on something. Post-colonial borders have blighted the whole world with slaughter. Nigeria and Biafra, Iraq, Indonesia etc not to mention the Africa bloodbath.

Oddly enough, muslims have more often gained from this imposition of false borders by gaining control of non-muslim .

They still murder for more though, as in Pan Am Flight 103.

Incidentally, if the plane had fallen into international waters, where would al-Megrahi have been tried?

Why are the Scots sending an Irishman to Libya anyway? Is it because Libya spent Irish IRA money on bombing American soldiers in Germany?

(Yes I know he's al-Megrahi and not Al McGrachy)

Are the Scots going to have that independence referendum in 2010, or has that been quietly dropped? Not that it matters, as long as they can strut the world stage as Scots while spending English money, they'll never vote to be a real nation.

To be fair (an English characteristic) Byrne does end this article with "I am one proud Englishman who will be standing up for the Union. "

We'd like to see him stand up for England and his constituents much more.

What is clear from Clare Short's piece is, what we English have always known, that England has always been a culturally diverse nation based upon its ancient counties. Most English people identify closely with their home county or city, but we all know that we stand together as Englishmen.

This English nationhood is exactly what Labour, the Lib Dems and the Tories have been attacking since Ted Heath.

Such attack is especially fierce from EU-philes. As English people we are heartily sick of hearing people question Englishness. True there are some of us who identify with the Anglo-Saxons, but I am not one of them. This can be said of some Scots and Welsh with their collective and spurious 'Celt' identity. Lumping 'Celtishness' in with the Irish is particularly absurd, but that argument is for another time.

England's cultural diversity, but strong sense of nationhood is particularly undesirable to EU-philes as England is unquestionably the most EU-sceptic nation in the EU.

England and the English must simply be obliterated. Hence the uncontrolled mass immigration which has turned England (not the UK, or Britain) into the most crowded EU country.

It won't work, and we'll reverse matters in our own way.

The SNP has 70 years on the English Democrats. Since first standing in 2004, the English Democrats now have an elected mayor and some councillors, despite the censorship and bad publicity.

The BBC is undoubtedly anti-English Democrats. When the party stood in the Welsh Assembly elections on a ticket of offering the people of Monmouthshire a referendum on returning to England, BBC Wales just about blacked-out any coverage of the subject.

I personally argued with the producer in charge of radio coverage that if some Scottish party called the Berwick Rangers campaigned to steal Berwick Upon Tweed from England, the BBC would be all over them like a rash. I was proved right when GMTV ran a dubious poll in Berwick on that very subject. It was all over the BBC national news. Likewise with Audlem and Wales.

I was with the Campaign for an English Parliament in Berwick last year, and was most surprised at the number of Scots in the town. Just about all were hostile to us and sneering about how well off they were in Scotland (no hospital parking fees etc).

A local shopkeeper explained that around 5000 - 9000 Scots did their weekend shopping in Berwick as it is the closest large town. Unprompted he then added "and they hate us". That is the truth.

The BBC, GMTV and the rest of the mainstream media never published the result of the poll run by Berwick's local paper showing exactly the opposite to GMTV's poll, with 76% wanting Berwick to stay in England.

The whole premise of the British media is to mislead opinion on and misrepresent English nationalism. The British media, like the British Parliament, are all institutionally Anglophobic.
Devolution poll 5:16pm on 02 Jul 2009 378 Scottishness, contrived or otherwise, was not banned. The kilt was worn by Scottish regiments after 1745, and was probably worn by the Black Watch (you know, that Fijian regiment) in southern England during the Battle of Culloden.

The bagpipes were still played, just not by the minority of rebels.

You missed out the Malt Act of 1715.
