Victories for the underdogs in another wild NFL weekend 4:33pm on 29 Sep 2009 I must admit that I did not expect anything from the Bengals this year but the defence looks good and having Palmer back is a huge bonus. Dare I say that 10-6 this season is within reach?

I've supported the Bengals since the days of Esiason, Brooks and Fulcher and it's been tortuous at times but I have a feeling that they might shock a few this season.
1st Test day three - rolling blog 1:33pm on 10 Jul 2009 So far, this Test seems to be an illustration of Broad's inexperience. When he's on fire he looks the genuine article. At Cardiff he has looked overwhelmed by the occasion and is a bit wayward.

That said, it does seem that he's being targeted a bit by the Aussies.
2005 and all that 09:54am on 30 Jun 2009 I'm Scottish but have followed English cricket, indeed supported them, since the 1989 Ashes, and the 2005 Tests were outstanding; everyone of them! I was watching the end of the 2nd Test in a state of adrenaline-filled fear, convinced those Aussies were going to squeak it, and when Bowden stuck up the crooked finger o' doom, well, I have never felt such relief in my life!
Burnley one step from the Promised Land 5:14pm on 13 May 2009 As a St Johnstone fan I was extremely annoyed when Burnley poached our manager, but after I had got over the initial anger I saw that it was a good move for him and he has done a fantastic job. When he was manager of St Johnstone we overturned 5 SPL teams (including Rangers at Ibrox) in a season in cup competitions thanks to his attacking style and we were only just pipped to the 1st Division title in the same year.

It's great to see him adopting the same style at Burnley and if they get through against Sheffield Utd then I expect them to do well in the Premiership.
Bitter recriminations at the Bridge 07:36am on 07 May 2009 As a neutral I am glad that Barcelona went through, however I do feel a little sorry for Chelsea, and it is surely a further nail in the anti-television replay brigade's coffin.

That said, Drogba's behaviour was inexcusable - I actually thought he was going to assault the referee. Michael Ballack wasn't much better when he got booked - he flapped around the ref like Jim Carrey pretending to be a giant bat in Ace Ventura! Shameful.
Hillsborough - a personal memory 09:42am on 11 Apr 2009 Post 189; it's true it is one of those moments that you can remember exactly what you were doing.

My own team (St Johnstone) were playing in the Scottish Cup semi-final against Rangers at the same time but my family and myself were driving back north from an Easter break in Scarborough. My dad turned the radio on to hear the commentary on the game and the commentators kept making reference to the tragedy at Hillsborough. He switched channels and he had to stop the car by the side of the road. I had never seen my dad cry before and it shocked me. What I was hearing made me sick to my stomach and I felt so much sorrow for the families of those that died on that day.

Even now reading these posts I can feel the hair on the back of my neck standing up as I remember. I hope that the 96 are remembered in a fitting way.
