As a celtic fan, I would just like a decent manager and a board willing to back him. The big four and the likes of Madrid don't even realise how big they have got that a team like Celtic can't compete in any way shape or form against them. We may play in the same competitions, but we are worlds apart.

When playing against them, I know how it feels to be a fan of any other Scottish club playing against us. Football is truly about how you feel when you can play with pride and get a result against these real giants, not who can sign the biggest stars. There is far more pleasure in seeing a misfit become a hero (Henrik).
Managerial merry-go-round spins out of control 2:52pm on 27 May 2009 Yes, Strachan should have gone last year, but I thought he was a fantastic manager for Celtic. Martin O'Neill was a saviour, but Strachan was a miracle worker on a fraction of the budget. He lost the heart for the battle in the end, though I feel.
I would be delighted with Bilic. I genuinely believe his claim that we could move to the next level with him in charge.

And the wise old owl didn't work him out, he just got lucky that the players ran horribly out of steam, despite an early European exit. The new managers fitness demands should be significantly higher if we are to progress.
Superhero needed to sort out Scottish game 3:57pm on 14 May 2009 Roverbhoy58, I think it's sadder to post a metaphorical 'arm-around-the-shoulder' of one of the BBC's most over-paid exponents of verbal tosh. He should be able to handle criticism after 40-years toiling at the coal-face etc... Check out his interviews with Walter Smith for proof.

In terms of the Scottish game, a system similar to the Eredivisie in Holland would work, especially with their more exciting promotion and relegation playoffs, but would smaller teams be able to cope with only having the Old Firm visit once a season each, considering the TV money and expected full houses? Teams want to get in the top six for more than simple pride.

Old Firm win will bring final furlong into sight 3:18pm on 07 May 2009 Come on, Chic's blogs are like the bechamel sauce atop the lasagne of the world. He is walking on the avenue of the stars with his primary school sanshoes scuffing the dirt. His words are like a saturday afternoon boat ride on the Clyde, wet and unpleasant. He strides with his elbows on his knees.
His chest balloons like so many literary greats before him, so much so that he cannot be chased down and burst by the merest of pinpricks. His buffoonery is like that of the monkeys of the ancient forests of Mesapotamia. He drives south without the wind at his back.
You can't keep a good man down, and if you did, you'd be arrested for loafing with a skuffle-horse!
Scots duo pay dearly for mistakes 8:01pm on 03 Apr 2009 Heeza! Hahahaha. McFadden was 19. An over-excited child on his first trip abroad with the big boys. He got lost from the main group. They were on an officially-sanctioned night out following an international tour. The football was over. We had failed to make the real tournament and were trying to build morale. He missed a bus and his apology was genuine. The two situations cannot be compared. Ferguson was the captain of his country on the eve of a vital world cup qualifier.
Scots duo pay dearly for mistakes 7:48pm on 03 Apr 2009 Great news for Scottish football. Ferguson is a bad egg. He is a troublemaker who thinks he bosses everything. Try bossing a midfield for once, Baz. Couldn't care less about McGregor, when we have Craig Gordon and an able substitute keeper in Marshall. There is no doubt in my mind that the SFA have used this as an excuse to rid the national team setup of his bad influence without the Rangers fans' backlash at a 'traditional' dropping of their beloved captain. For once, they have used their iniative and seized an opportunity.
A player who is as truly committed to the Scotland cause as Ferguson claims would have won far more than 45 caps in his career, so we don't need him. Scott Brown is a far more able player for the modern game and this news means that we are now more likely to qualify for the world cup because there will now be more harmony in the camp and balance in the side.
Retro-junkies, why are you mentioning Celtic? WGS has proven time and again that he is a disciplinarian and I'm sure that he would have disciplined any one who stepped out of line. What a pathetic attempt to score points FOR Rangers on one of their most humiliating days.
Scotland can't freeze against Iceland 4:52pm on 30 Mar 2009 Simply put, if we don't beat Iceland, then we do not deserve to go to the world cup. The good news for us following Saturday's Dutch exhibition game is that they wont need anything from the game at Hampden in September as they will be well qualified by then. It is away in Norway I worry about.
Batman, Robben and Scotland 1:48pm on 24 Mar 2009 Park the bus. Go for 0-0. The dutch aren't amazing, although not one of our boys would get in their side. How often do we see appalling football teams get results? It may just be our turn. Ferguson has to play because of his experience, but he should shut his whiny trap and play football instead. He used to be alright. I'd rather play Iwelumo than Boyd or Miller. At least he's scoring goals in a competetive league for a decent side. He and Fletcher up front would at least provide a bit of variety.
