It is highly unlikely that even Helen Keller would fail to see the irony in the situation so belligerently and callously constructed by the Nu Cons. The public statements and the press releases all state - it would now seem, perchance, questionable - that the Nu Cons want to devolve more power down to constituency level.

There is too much central control ... They bugle!

“A” lists, “All women candidate lists” “..more ethnic minority representation ..” does not bode well if the candidates are imposed by the bullyington club boys at Central Office.

If the contentious PPC is retained by the local association it will be a clear indicator of how much pressure has been put to bear and just how desperate the Nu Cons are to win the next election. If the A Lister is rejected it shows just how much Nu Con Central Office is out of touch with grass root tories.

Would the local voters, given that their choices seem to be very limited, be willing to put their cross against the name of a candidate whom clearly has such little respect for the institution of marriage?

A possible re-run of the Bedford Mayoral debacle perhaps?

Lose - whatever way you look at it - lose, methinks!

And if M Mr Big Con can’t see that then it is very questionable whether he has the - desired - skills to run this country!

Could it cause the undoing of Mr Big Con himself?

Nah! He got away with breaking a cast iron promise didn’t he!

As said before 25 per cent of the list of a thousand are - and would prefer to be - ex lobbyists.

Are they, these so called ‘best candidates’, going to want to pursue a Westminster career - which demands very much keeping to the party line, not biting the hands that feed you, and never sticking ones head above the parapet - or will they raise a question in the House about Mrs Blitherington-Smythe-Belcher’s .....

Three or four years ago a junior supervisor in a supermarket chain was caught eating two grapes from a bunch that was just about to be consigned to the waste bin. He was found guilty of theft.

He didn’t get five years ....

He got sacked.

And ... Oh yes! ....

There seems to be a growing campaign railing against ‘all women’ short lists ....

What exactly are the forces in action both for and against?

Is it misogyny, assertive action, affirmative appointment, tokenism, dogma, or vote seeking?

Is there any evidence that affirmative action or, on the other side, tokenism has any positive - or possibly negative - effect or outcome?

How on earth do you allocate the places on a shortlist of four to six? Would one of the candidates have to admit that he stroke she was a transgender, disabled, unemployed Jedi?

And ... Oh yes! .... 2

Does anyone actually know why the back room boys of the Nu Cons are so anti Europe?

And does the statement from Mr Cameron this afternoon now prove that ...

A Nu Con can con an old con if the old con believes the Nu Con will be the next national con?

And ... Oh yes! .... 3

So Mr Kelly, what exactly are you going to do?

We know that your remit doesn’t include Capital Gains Tax or “flipping” but the question has to be asked whom is actually going to deal with these quasi-criminal acts?

Well done NN for covering the Home Secretary’s RSA speech on immigration.

Strangely, there seems to be very little coverage elsewhere. Classism or racism?

Interesting to see both parties trying to out-do each other as to whom is doing the most effective in dealing with immigration. Mr Woolas is struggling pretty successfully against a Tsunami and the Nu Cons won’t spell out policy until after the election. (No cast iron promise there then.)

Does the Home Secretary’s speech now clarify whether or not it is racist to be concerned about immigration?

Especially in the eyes of the media!

Nimrod XV 230...

A classic case of what could happen when the people at the top willingly blind themselves and take no notice of the opinion of the people at the bottom.

The World Health Organisation has identified five factors that shorten life span. Have they forgotten the most lethal of all ...

Religion.

Political Correctness.

Why on earth limit the discussion to comedy? Is it not negatively affecting every single aspect of our way of life?

Or is it just another Agenda?

The bucket of whitewash has been wheeled out of the storeroom and the sop begins ....

It’s been routine at Westminster for decades. Leak or reveal parts of the enquiry or report early so that the defence is given time to prepare it’s case and practice contrition. The media then pounces, speculates, postulates and vindicates. The GBP - or at least those wanting to grind axes - moan, groan, whine and indulge in orgies of self anointed backslapping.

Then the full report comes out.

Action Stations......

The HMP’s put the hours of - time consuming and expensive - grooming and rehearsal to good use and feign hari kiri where necessary, required or ordered. The media stops justifying the excessive reporting hours and in the process the obituary columns appear better written. The GBP having ‘heard’ it all before develop laconicism, cynicism, lethargy or inertia, perhaps in combination, perhaps not. The detail gets ignored, the belligerent gain, the cowardly remain silent and the masses lose.

Such is the way of both houses.

Already the covert and, surprisingly, overt bleating has started. Rules are referenced, honesty endorsed and integrity brandished. The orangutans aka hangers on, grasp for eternal - well paid - life. The guilty practice ventriloquism not choosing to step into the limelight for fear of the - sadly - nonexistent lynch mob. The Leaders mislead and the conscience-less become dumb.

And finally ...... The committees nullify, rectify, modify and then justify.

So ........

If a month after the full report we all sat down and loudly, and proudly, played Isaac Hayes biggest UK hit single could we justifiably say .....

So ... the Nu Cons want to devolve ‘power’ to more local control.

They, the Nu Cons, want to reduce the number of HMP’s thereby giving HMP’s the ‘authority’ to vote on behalf of a greater number of constituents at the same time as having less ‘party’ bodies to whip in the lower house.

And now they are going to replace the BBC Trust with an ‘authority’ selected, overseen by, and responsible to the lower house!

And some posters think the policies of the BNP are draconian!

State controlled television ?.... I DO NOT think so!

Mr Hunt, culture shadow for the Nu Cons, states that it should be “Journalism before party politics” .....

He may be going in the right direction by suggesting that contemporary journalism is more about idealism, status and ideology than informing but ....

Can one dare imagine Nu Con, or any other political party, controlled broadcasting?

And some Posters on here complain about the moderators now!

And .... Oh yes! .......

During my earlier years on this planet I had the good fortune to be surrounded by people whom, for almost all of the time, kept to their part of Nature’s bargain and tried their best to contribute to making me a decent human being. I’m still trying to keep to my part of that same contract. Some days you do, ....... but I do try.

As part of the - always - ongoing process I used to have what might then have been called “life’s unwritten rules” thrown at me as and when ‘they’ thought it right stroke couldn’t think of something more appropriate to say ......

“I thought I was bad off ‘coz I had no shoes ....” All fur coat ....” “Don’t turn the light off when you need to see!” (It took a while to realise that this last was about intellect rather than bulbs!)

Anyway, you know the type of thing.

I used to listen, ponder, sometimes meander and occasionally tried to ‘turn off the light” but they must have meant something worthwhile as they’ve stuck with me so far. Ironically when I've tried to pass on these pearls of wisdom as part of my parental responsibility I’ve had strange responses and replies to the examples above ....

“But I still want the trainers Dad!” .... “Urgh ... Gross!” and “But what about the planet?”

(I exaggerate in jest!)

One of these quasi-throwaway “unwritten rules” was .....

“A man that betrays his wife will surely betray his country.”

Today it would appear that the Nu Cons haven’t heard of that one,

but they do know about the sacrificial lamb!

So .... Should we question someone’s judgement?

And .... Oh yes! ....... 2.

A Poster on here has already made the observation that the body language of one member of the panel on the - now - infamous QT raised the issue as to whether such behaviour would have been acceptable, to the perpetrator and others, if the same ‘display’ had been recognised by the individual as being directed - albeit unknowingly - at her.

I have to admit that the individual came across to me during the broadcast as doing her level best to be as courteous as she could possibly be - IMO she succeeded far more so than anyone else on the panel - and on occasion I actually wondered if there was some form of deep rooted professional affinity there but ....... Body language can be misconstrued - yet it dare not be ignored - and in this instance I agree with the Poster’s assessment.

And such observation could be directed toward a female member of another - BBC - discussion panel.

On Saturday in BBC N24’s Dateline London - always, and decidedly, notable for no input by any member of the GBP - when the discussion centered around QT and whether the ‘standing’ of the BNP had changed as a result of the programme. During the course of the discussion this Panelist raised the issue of the disaffection of facets of the GBP working/non-working classes......

(Body language is worth - far more than - a thousand words.)

Strangely .... Fearful, confused and paranoid people question why the BNP is now becoming mainstream.

I just can’t figure it!

And .... Oh yes! .......

I have occasionally raised the issue on here as to why it is that there is virtually no contribution from Posters, e-mailers, twits and texters (hereafter ‘Petts’) to the mass of programmes that constantly seek opinion from said Petts. These broadcasts seem to prefer to invite poets, celebrities, HMPs and suited inconsequential telegenics to offer opinion that - pretty regularly - has already been offered by the Petts. Somehow the programmes appear to be so flush with lucre they have have to get rid of it somehow and so opt for appearance fees. (We all know that that is unlikely to change on the basis that no-one is going to shut down the only farm that feeds them.) One consolation for the Petts perhaps is that, although the invited experts are rarely accused of plagiarism, both operate under the same set of rules .... Hmm!

Certain words are, we are force fed to believe as if we are likened to thinking geese, unacceptable. The p word, the c word, the n word, the afro word and, no doubt, a vast quantity of other words that are so hush hush we won’t even be told they are absolutely, awfully, totally non passé - my Dear man - until some poor innocent slob has been publicly stoned on national TV. (Perhaps like a certain Wizard of Oz character recently?) Is it the case that - like 85 per cent of statistics - these non PC words are made up on the spot?

A while back my initial attempt at a post was rejected - by a computer programme no less - for the fact that I had used the full length n and p words in reference to whom had valid options to the usage of the p and n words. I even kowtowed to the regime and used inverted commas to emphasise that IMHO I was using the words in proper context.

But ..... No!

A quick re-write substituting “the n word” and “the p word” for the proper full words got it past the binary arbitrator and no more was said to the best of my knowledge. (Did anyone other than the moderators - did even they(?) - read the post I wonder? )

Point made I thought, move on.

And I did.

Until p15 - No, not THE p word, I’m referring to page number - in the current issue of the Radio Times, Paragraph One of the article by the well known sage Joan Bakewell ......

A case of “Don’t do as I do ...”, “Do as I don’t do ...” or is the human race now at the mercy of Cyberdyne and it like?

And .... Oh yes! ....... Two.

BBC News 24 is on another of it’s ‘themed’ weeks reporting on pregnancy versus mortality around the world. An admirable subject, and one assumes that in it’s role as demonstrating fairness and balance they, BBCN24, will do a week long ‘slot’ on global population growth and it’s consequences.

(No, No! .... Why are you turning blue? You can breathe, honest!)

A couple of BBCN24’s assertions ...

A Mother is 300 times more likely to survive sic childbirth in the UK than in other parts of the world.

In Malawi (?) three out of four trained Midwives leave to work elsewhere in the world.

And there’s the nub of the problem in the less developed world ....

If ‘we’ stopped pinching ‘their’ qualified staff maybe, just maybe, the death rate in other countries would not be so high!

N’ést pas?

It is - erroneously? - often stated that our NHS would fall apart without overseas qualified staff but are we in reality paying blood money to ease our conscience for taking these practitioners?

Would an equitable solution be to allow overseas staff to come here for say two years to improve their skills level rather than deprive their home country of more durable self help? The argument that overseas staff contribute to the economy of their own countries by sending back much needed cash must surely be flawed in the sense that when ever does cash going to these places ever make it into the legitimate ‘system’? (OK, so what if I am a micro-cynic by nature!)

As for the staff shortages that might occur in the UK ....

Has anybody noticed? ..... We have 5 million unemployed.

Perhaps if HMG invested in creating a purely practical centred nursing grade there might be some worthwhile vacancies that all these new job seeking single mums - whom don’t want to be quasi-doctors - could apply for?

As an afterthought ......

Ethiopia ..... A solution.

7 million people already supported by food aid, further calls for help for another 6 million.

And the population is due to double within 25 years.

Three answers ......

Any further aid should only be given ....

In that all children attend full time secular education ....

On full uncompromising acceptance that women have the right to choose, or not to choose, to get pregnant and that women have the incontrovertible right not the be chattels of men ....

And that the contraceptive pill be taken daily.

Oh, and please - most sincerely - thank Ms Cole’s Agent for having booked her in elsewhere this evening.
