The Glass Box for Monday. 6:35pm on 16 Feb 2009 I agree that the interview with the Websters was excellent. It highlighted a number of things which are wrong with the current system.

But hang on a minute. Scurvy? SCURVY??

This isn't an infectious disease or an accident. It is a symptom of malnutrition. How do children in this day and age come to have scurvy?
Beryl Bainbridge and the Liverpool accent. 5:46pm on 22 Jan 2009 As someone who speaks "properly" (as defined by Ms Bainbridge) I have to say she is speaking utter nonsense. There is no "right" pronunciation; just some that are more approriate in some circumstances.

As to the Beatles not having Liverpool accents, well that's news to me.
