The ten-second vampire movie 3:17pm on 28 Oct 2009 Also, Twilight was the worst film of last year. It ranks in the top ten of the worst films I've ever seen, just beneath Elizabethtown and Batman & Robin. Shame on you for not slating it.

Firstly, Buffy the Vampire Slayer is the single greatest television series of all time. That is not a joke. If you are, at this moment, laughing into your laptop and shaking your head in a "the poor misguided fool" kind of way. I offer this in my defence: you think The Exorcist is the greatest film ever made, we all have our cross to bear.

Seriously. Check it out, and persevere until at least the end of series 2. I guarantee you won't be disappointed. (Angel, it's spin-off is also brilliant).

Secondly, Let the Right One in is about, among other things, homosexuality...or asexuality or any kind of 'deviant' sexuality depending on your interpretation. Hence the Morrisey reference in the title, the complex relationship between the castrated Eli and Oscar, the perverse relationship between Eli and her adult guardian and the (frankly disturbing) vibe that Oskar's dad's friend gives off when Oskar visit's his shack. The list goes on and on.

It is very much about childhood adversity, friendship, rage etc like you stated, but sexuality is a HUGE part of the subtext.

Also...where's NEAR DARK on your list.

Hearing you talk about the Jonas Brothers 'sexualised' stage show today reminded me of the South Park episode 'The Ring' in which Kenny and his new girlfriend are encouraged by the Jonas Brothers to wear purity rings, which is secretly a marketing tactic by Disney to sell sex to young girls. Its portrayal of Mickey Mouse as a foul-mouthed, greedy, and physically violent company president is hilarious and its send up of the Jonas Brothers as 'clean cut' pop stars is razor sharp.

Regarding Cannes Dr. K, I wish I could have seen your reaction when Lars (Modest) Von Trier said the following:

"It's the hand of God, I'm afraid. And I am the best film director in the world."
Flying angels and racing demons 6:07pm on 15 May 2009 Ewan McGregor hasn't been in a good film (or indeed been good IN a film) since Young Adam and before that...well, I can't really remember him being good for years and years. Moulin Rouge maybe?

Plus, I've never really forgiven him for those horrendous Davidoff Adventure adverts, in which he completely sold out in every conceivable way whilst promoting a perfume that smells like urine.
