Northern exposure 1:07pm on 04 Sep 2009 This might not be that strange but whilst on a film making project in Sarajevo last year, we projected Les demoiselles de Rochefort onto a white sheet sellotaped to a wall at a restaurant. It was a pleasant experience.
5 Live Interview: Willem Dafoe 4:09pm on 24 Jul 2009 I'd just like to say that Simon Mayo just read out approximately HALF of the following email about Antichrist. And I have to admit that I did titter at the fox and his comment.

Dear Detective Kimball and Patrick Bateman,

On holiday a couple of weeks ago in Warsaw, I went with my friend Wojtek to see Antichrist (in a quite old and wonderful looking cinema)
I was certainly impressed with the film, perhaps most by the atmospheric and slightly shocking slow-mo prologue, clearly both performances were very strong too.
Surely it's a film that has things to say, but these themes are pushed to the back of my mind, as I can't help but think about the incredibly violent scenes near the end of the film (which were definitely shocking as they were mean to be) and wonder whether or not they are just there for shock and awe.
But still I think it's worth seeing.

Ricky Gervais extra 3:13pm on 26 May 2009 I don't have anything to add to that i'm afraid, but I agree whole heartedly. I'm a big fan of his work and Ghost Town was even better than what I was hoping for.

PS: I'm looking forward to getting Martyrs on Blu ray this week.

Great idea about the collation of independent cinemas. Can I just remind you about QFT in Belfast which you didn't mention there, it's absolutely wonderful.

Pieces of blog and even more of your 3D thinking 11:20pm on 13 May 2009 Enough nice things cannot be said about QFT (Queen's Film Theatre) in Belfast, just beside Queens' Universtiy. Cheap tickets (£3 for members), comfy seats and friendly staff.

Dragliner78 mentioned a David Lynch double bill at their cinema, i think i can trump that with a David Lynch introduced screening of The Elephant Man (I got to shake his hand) and I'll never forget laughing with everyone else in a packed screening of Annie Hall last July. Can't wait to see Let the Right One In there after my exams.

Thanks for that. Since you encourage variety of opinion, I'd like to express that I think A View to a Kill is a great Bond theme, certainly one of the best. I remember as a child repeatedly rewinding the video cassette to the title sequence just to hear it (this was before I bought the soundtrack CD).

Also, I'm in the middle of writing an essay on Godard and Truffaut and I was wondering what you thought of the La Nouvelle Vague, I remember you once reffered to it as the "New Vagueness" but you didn't go into detail. If you don't think much of Godard, do you like Jean-Pierre Melville's work?

New Year's Resolution: It's Good to Talk 10:09pm on 06 Jan 2009 After finding out that you actually read these comments and that you may in fact reply, I'd like to reiterate what I said to you when I met you in Belfast after the Mary Poppins screening, mainly because I'm sure I didn't quite get across what I wanted to say due to my nervousness and delight at having the opportunity to meet you. I'd just like to quote you first.

"If I made one person go and see Of Time and the city, then I think I’ve justified my existence."

Well not only would I not have seen Of Time and the City had you not recommended it, but you have greatly influenced me in the films that I've seen both in the cinema and at home over the last two years. The films of Paul Thomas Anderson, A Mighty Heart, The Mist and My Winnipeg just to name a few. That's not to mention the sublime wittertainment on the 5live show and here on this site. So thanks very much indeed and keep up the great work.
