The Revisitations of Doctor Kermode 9:22pm on 16 Oct 2009 Hey Dr K,
There are two films that it took me two viewing to get a handle on. First was Memento as first time round you are unsure what is goigng on and I was confused and angry with it. However the second time round I began to fill in the puzzle, I began to enjoy it as a cinematic work. The second is yes I am afraid to say Christopher Gans attempt at a Silent Hill film. Now I have the opinion of games becoming movies that you do. However, in seeing it the first time I was not sure if it was like the Silent hill games. I bought some Silent Hill games and I think it was made for fans of the franchise. SO I know you did not like it at all. I ask is that you watch some of the walkthroughs online and see if your opinions change.
What Jennifer Aniston's Best Friends won't tell her 10:17pm on 06 Oct 2009 I usually agree with Dr Kermode but here I am going to disagree. Here is why, Jennifer Aniston as he rightly said was a TV star. He says unjustly that she has a face for TV, I disagree because she has not had a film that has allowed her to step away from her perceived role as Rachel from friends as all of her frinds have been romantic comedies or even in derailed seemed like they were TV movies put on the big screen. I do not blame Jennifer for this I blame her agent for not getting her better roles. Now here is why I say that Bruce Willis was known for Moonlighting before Die Hard so he had a face for TV but his role in that film changed the way people saw him. Johnny Depp lucked out in getting Tim Burton interested in him and changing the perception of him as teen idol TV star into film star. So I think that Jennifer needs a role like that something that is out and out a film, terry gilliam, ridley scott, christopher Nolan could get something out of her then she would no longer be rachel she would be jennifer aniston film star.

I would like to take issue with your comments on the broken because even though I have not seen the film, I would rather sit through a interesting new horror film then any of these vomit-inducing remakes that I have uinfortunately been tricked into seeing, the owrast being that wicker man remale it wasn't scary. Now I know you are going to say it is like a remake itself butt here is a difference betwen paying lip service to a genre and remaking a film, the biggest problem I have with most modern horror is that it is in the middl of the slasher genre again, as a man I have seen Halloween and think if anyone is trying something interesting they should be embrassed rather than discouraged.
The Culture Show: Take on Mark with the Anti-Kermode 11:18pm on 06 Feb 2009 I usually agree with you doctor however, I have to disagree with you on one film, Showgirls. Now I know you are gouing to brin up all the Razzies the film won however I think has a comic value in how kitch and over the top it ios, I see it as aCarry on movie or a sex comedy as it has so many scenes which if I were to name them they would flash back into the memory. It has bonkers performance from Gina Gershon and Kyle McClachan who get the gag, it has comedy noises, ioits real camp and it has now been seen as the comedy fi,m it always was.

Thanks for replying, What is your opinon the current state of Brtiish films I personal am excited by having three directors like Mike Leigh, Shane Meadows and Danny Boyle who are all real directors who have directed interesting films, i like boyle to the point where i will say he has never directed a bad film I love a life less orduinary and everyone else wa wrong about that it was superb.
