Woods ready to light up Turnberry 6:36pm on 14 Jul 2009 No 10: Peter Alliss doesn't know what he's talking about? At least spell his name correctly, then think about the experience he's got, the tournaments he's won, the innumerable tournaments he's commentated on and ask yourself, 'do I really mean it?'. At least he's not a sycophantic 'Tiger lover', if he sees rubbish play, snail like speed on the course etc, he'll have a go and rightly so.

As for Turnberry being a poor course: all any course is is an area of grass with a small hole at one end. The essence of a course is it's surroundings and how hard it is to negotiate. I think we'll find the answer over the next few days. After all, previous Opens haven't been too bad.
Out-of-sorts Windies face northern chill 7:12pm on 13 May 2009 Let's fast forward 20 years. Test & County cricket has died because all the 'superstars' decided to play 20-20 knockabout. Unfortunately Old Father Time has taken his toll and now the 1st generation of 20-20ers have all gone back to the pavilion for good. Please can somebody tell me who is then going to get 'bought' for 20-20, and on what basis?

The whole concept of 20-20 is shortlived, make a quick rupee and get out. The spectators have the attention span of a gnat, sadly a symptom of much of the worst aspects of modern living.
Does Monty really need a third pick? 6:56pm on 13 May 2009 Can't see a problem with extra picks, it just gives more versatility. Having said that, there's still nothing to stop Monty picking the players who would have qualified under the 2 wildcard system. What it does mean is that he DOESN'T have to pick somebody who had an early 'hot streak' but then totally loses form in the weeks leading up to the Ryder Cup. I'm sure you can think of numerous examples. It should also mean less chance of a player being automatically selected and then not played until the final day's singles.
Aussies worth a listen 11:57am on 08 Apr 2009 Woods won't give anything away for nothing at Press Conferences, if you want 'interesting' it'll have to be a paid exclusive.
Big Sam is back 7:12pm on 17 Dec 2008 Thankfully Allardyce has gone to Blackburn; it takes away any possibility of him replacing Calderwood at Forest if and when he goes. Feel sorry for Blackburn fans, you're going to have to get used to the most boring football in the Premiership, along with Megson's Bolton. The only bright thing you'll have is the knowledge that as soon as Allardyce sniffs what he perceives is a better job he'll be off. When he scarpered from Notts County he didn't even have the decency to hand in his keys and he upped and left Bolton for Newcastle in a similar manner. Just a trace of bad judgement there!
Ince forced out by fear factor 4:10pm on 16 Dec 2008 Totally agree about relegation being driven by fear of loss of money, not pride. What I'd love to ask some of the owners/directors is this ''What are you going to do with the extra Premier League cash anyway?'' As far as I can see, most of it goes into the greedy pockets of agents and players. What's really needed is a salary and transfer fee cap, so that more emphasis is given to coaching and development of young, local talent. Why do many clubs, even outside the Premier League, think that 'foreign is better'? Of course the problem isn't football related at all, it's all driven by 'market forces', how many countries can Sky sell the PL to, how many shirts can we sell abroad; witness Man Utd this week, for all Ferguson's rhetoric about being 'World Champions', it's all about selling Old Trafford to the Far East.
