Why I enjoy watching rather than picking fungi 12:18pm on 16 Nov 2009 Toally agree. Foraging is encouraged by chefs and trendies but they forget some species are protected and if everyone decided to give it a go there'd be nothing left. Most edible mushrooms are available in grow-your-own packs so why pick them from wild. As with wild flowers - leave them for others to enjoy; plant your own wild life garden - contribute; don't destroy.
Some answers to your Unsprung questions 10:13am on 24 Oct 2009 When you said count birds in the garden I presume you meant species not individuals ? At the momoment we average 50-60 birds at any one time including around 30 house sparrows ( I thought they were in decline ) but when the starlings come that can go up to more like 250. But in terms of species the figure comes down to about 25.
Some answers to your Unsprung questions 10:00am on 24 Oct 2009 On of your questions involved a " fatty " goldfinch . You said it was fluffed up but couldn't it also be a sign of Trichomoniasis ( one for Chris )the rather nasty finch disease ?
Hardly like a recovery 1:34pm on 22 Oct 2009 Gordon Brown's problem is clear. He has run out of ideas. Watching PMQ's it was the same old , same old ... with his standard speech attacking the Tories given, of course, at the end of Cameron's questions so that he couldn't be challenged by return. False points scoring which actually is laughable.

Question to Diane - You are wrong to say Nick Griffin will profit from his appearance on Question Time. This is not true unless people allow him to win the debate.
Remember the US presidential candidates whose chances were destroyed by public debate ? Better this than the creeping door by door campaign. It is easier to convince individuals than audiences simply because on the doorstep campaigns you are only given one side of the arguement. On Question Time he will be attacked on all sides.
Why not have him on This Week where you can confront him yourself?

It is operated ny a different pat of the brain to "conscious" vision. When you concentration fails this part of your brain takes over and switches your consciousness back on if danger threatens i.e. a red traffic light. Noone can concentrate full time and this provides a safety net

HaLF asleep I overheard a phone call. This combined witba dream to convince me that the person in the opposite bed was a lunatic who was planning to kill me. The result was me ruuning into the nurses arae cying for help. They calmed me down, I was even reffered tp a psychiatrist but your item gave me the answer I needed

Brown's cautious bank reforms 1:24pm on 22 Feb 2009 I was thinking about lateral thinking recently which makes you see what is not said. Firstly in this whole discussion over what went wrong and who's to blame. Why not look at where it hasn't gone wrong.
When did anyone mention HSBC who seem to be surviving pretty well. Perhaps it is easier to search out the culprits than to look at what works and adapt and learn.

Second what about credit card companies such as MBNA who take advantage and whack up their interest rates while maintaining a fixed minimum repayment. They encourage payment by direct debit and of take that minimum repayment. A law that meant the min repayment be raised to a sensible level ( in most cases 2-3% MBNA interest + £5 ) and link it to interest rate changes would mean that raising interest rates would raise min. payment would deter spending which would make them think twice. But of course GB wants people to borrow and spend ( which won't happen because people are not as stupid s he thinks ). Oh for a change of government!
Wonder what would happen with few months o no gov.........can't be worse surely ?
