PM Glass Box for Wednesday 5:26pm on 25 Nov 2009 The banks won because they held the government to ransom by letting the threat be known that they would intend to make up the money by charging for cash machine withdrawals. Think of all the millions of people who have benefits (without choice) paid into bank accounts and how government would have had to compensate them for by having to pay their charges to receive their benefits. Banks have indicated that they are not charities. However, they are quite prepared to take charitable donations from our government. They also cite, people should be more responsible with their accounts...laugh...I nearly dropped mi trousers.

The second reason they won is...I just don't trust the supreme court on this. Why don't any of these people in these incredible positions of power ever talk with a broad scouse or black country dialects...or any kind of dialect come to that? No...not for me mate.
AM glass box for Weds 25th November 08:19am on 25 Nov 2009 Why are the BBC (lead by J. Humphreys) acting all surprised at our secretive corrupt banking system. I would have thought it was par for the course in one of the most secretive and repressive societies in Europe!

AM glass box for Weds 25th November 08:04am on 25 Nov 2009 If we are a country who police by consent (whatever that means...(if some could explain)?, Why did a report recently conclude that it is almost impossible to have a complaint against the police ultimately upheld. You see, the thing is, I don't remember anyone seeking my consent on anything to do with policing...ever!

If you are really serious about this issue, have you looked into the historical (mainly recent history) as to why so much reluctance to requests such as a recognition of an English nation, people, parliament?

Look and the roots of the people who have the power to make such things happen. Don't be surprised if you find most do not have a historical allegiance to England as a country. Historical immigration dear boy...
AM Glass Box. 08:40am on 24 Nov 2009 I moved house just over a month ago.

On top of the normal stress involved, I have been having a nightmare experience with some of the utility services. Being unable to close down and relinquish a contract with an Internet provider, being unable to close and relinquish a water account. receiving bills quite openly known to not be mine by utility company and then being asked to physically prove this bill isn't mine, even though the bill dates from 3 years before for someone else. Closing down gas and electricity contracts only to receive a cold doorstep call from the supplier I closed the contract with. Whats new you might say, well the fact is on my street there is a specific sign saying 'no cold calling' put there by the council.

Anyway, my point is this, I would like to see a campaign to re-nationalise ALL utilities including phones,and yes,perhaps mobiles. I am sick and tired of these companies trying to rip off vulnerable people with their sharp and underhanded practices where redress is often more stressful than the event itself. I want to get back to ONE provider of essential utilities...it used to be the government. I know it wasn't perfect but it worked so much better than what we have now in my opinion. Regulators seem inept and weak willed...this is why we have the highest rail fares in, wait for it, the world!

PM Glass Box. 5:29pm on 23 Nov 2009 Yet again when we hear the answer to anyone questioning funding, flood defences, infrastructure checks, etc is that these are unprecedented acts of weather that only happen on hundred year cycles. NOT TRUE. this latest devastation may be unprecedented to this part of Cumbria but the British Isles (mainly England) are getting hit every year now...sometimes twice annually in the same place. These places are not too far apart either. Remember Hull...was it last year? Carlisle too? Remember the place in Devon the other year? Gloucestershire...what year was that? No, these events are not unprecedented to England nor on hundred year turn arounds...its every year just lately. It seems too easy to justify lack of funding and defences to label these events as 'unprecedented' when they are not!.
Who deserves a New Year's Honour? 1:22pm on 23 Nov 2009 Hi Everyone again.

I don't think anyone should be honoured for just doing their job or part thereof. For instance, business men should not be honoured for services to business, soldiers for services to the armed forces or the rest of us, policemen for being...well policemen, and especially athletes and sports people for winning by just doing their jobs etc. The only people who should be honoured are those who have truly done some exceptional altruistic act or long unrecognised service to the community. I would like to see the lowly people recognised. Not those who already have a rack of letters after their names already.
Dementia drugs. 7:03pm on 12 Nov 2009 Ah The chemical cosh!

Someone says, "there elderly...they might have died anyway" by way of justifying the cosh...I've said it before, I'll say it again. Its not within the drug industries interests to actually find a cure for ANYTHING! It is within their vested interest to produce chemicals that 'CONTROL' things...socially or physically. I don't think it matters to their share holders. I don't believe the prescribing doctors should get away Scott free either. They always know more than they let on to us 'lower echelons'.

The drugs don't work (at least for fifty percent of people they are prescribed for - admitted by Glaxo Smith Cline). They never did!
