Agassi confession lengthens shadow of doubt 09:22am on 29 Oct 2009 The majority of people leaving commens seem to have completely missed the point of the article - most likely they can no longer see it from their high-horse, or given the nature of their defence, low horse.

It's not about Agassi per se, rather about the nature of drug-taking, recreational or not, in the sport and more dammingly, the attitude of the governing body toward the implementation of the rules. These blogs can be so frustrating.
The BBC and the Paralympics 5:04pm on 15 Oct 2009 #16 Murray - I can't stand Eastenders, but I have that rammed my throat most nights. In comparison to a few days coverage every four years for a sporting event that is at it's most simplist form 'people competing against other people', I cannot appreciate your opinion. Personally, i'd love to see more of the Paralympics live, rather than on the highlights packages and I'll be attending the events in person where possible. Keep it up BBC.

Time to ease our selection headache? 11:04am on 23 Jul 2009 Completely agree with you Katharine - first two past the post with the A standard. The US system does have it's obvious benefits, not least in instilling a certain mentality in their athletes )in 'having to be the best'), but I would expect a method like that to be detrimental to the GB team's performance as a whole.

I always thought it odd that if a proven winner had been unable to make the US trials, or perhaps underperformed on the day, they wouldn't be a wildcard system to make allowances for that fact. It wouldn't be a case of backdoor entry for the big names who had failed to finish in the neccesary places, but more a recognition that achievments over a season perhaps count for more than a one-off result.

I think we've got pretty much the ideal system for GB athletics at the moment. Perhaps it would be worthwhile reviewing in the future, but for now, I would leave it be.
