I agree with katy on this that you can't teach someone to have something to say but i think everyone has something to say already built into them.

Its teaching them how to say what they want to say in an entertaining way.

Writers Academy 1 9:21pm on 09 Jan 2009 WriterNaomi I have to say i feel like i will be in a similar position to you when i finally finish my script but i'm going to do what i've heard Paul Abbott does and that is lock it away for a week and then come back to it and see whether i feel the same - most likely i won't and therefore be able to make some more "brutal" cuts.
The Perfect 10 00:04am on 07 Jan 2009 i have to say the script that i'm developing at the moment - i think the story is more powered by the emotions and personalities of the characters rather than the concept.

Out of the concept came characters in my mind who you could connect with on an emotional level.

As much as your posts are entertaining - my villain is not that kind of straight forward villain in the fact that he is not a villain to start with but during the course of events he turns evil and we see his motivation for turning evil etc. He never turns to your archetypal villain in your post.

I have what i think is a great concept that there isn't a lot of at the moment.

I know its a genre but i don't know what medium it would be best on - TV or Film. I'm wary of all the mediums. TV - it could be an endless recurring series. Film - possibly not enough time or far too many sequels.

This is all coming from what you say - i don't know the story enough or possibly at this moment in time what the story is?

The thing is, with this concept, there is so much i want to explore in character terms that i'm finding it hard to focus in on one particular story.
The Perfect 10 4:56pm on 05 Dec 2008 AntoniaBlue - i agree with you, i hate endings especially writing reports for Uni. I've never got the hang of the endings.
The only good ending i've ever written was the ending that wasn't meant to be the end.
