It was no secret that of all the world's property bubbles, one of the very bubbliest had been in Dubai - or that the bubble had been pricked a year ago.

And the massive debt we have, no one should be ignorant of the facts in this country either but I don't see anyone pointing out how close to collapse we are. House prices have been rising if you believe the market reports.

The whole country is living in a dream world created to hide the truth until after the election.

Then 'no one could have seen it coming' will be the phrase of the hour.

So I now have 2 foreign Ministries. If the new one is so critical can't we simply get rid of the one in London.

The OECD have just come out with a report saying that we are very close to entering an uncontrollable debt spiral reported in the Telegraph

"Britain is at growing risk of a "public debt spiral" unless the Government takes "drastic" action to cut the deficit, according to the OECD, world's leading economic institution. "

And this is even if they cut the deficit by 50%

We may be nearing the end game where everyones savings are wiped out so if we don't have to spend on two foreign ministries it would help a bit.

Do you see that HUGE grey shape in the corner of the room? Its an elephant with economic ruin written all over it.

I think this again is a good blog from you. It has certainly grabbed the attention in certain spin operations.

Having scanned the posts on this blog the Rapid Rebuttal Unit were geared up and ready to go.
It just goes to show the desperation running through Zanu.

The QS just shows the utter contempt this government have for the British people.

They think that they can still fool people with this tripe. Or may be its even more cynical, may be they now know that the vast majority of people have just switched off and they are targeting spin at the Labour voters that they know will fall for it.

Labour state dependant voters can be kept in the fold by scaring them that their befits will be cut.

I would like to see the break down of the 25% who say they will vote labour to the pollsters and if the rely on government handouts.

Nothing has changed we will not be given the true picture of the impact of the necessary measure this side of the election.

The electorate are still living in cloud cuckoo land where the Labour Party and the media opinion formers like Toynbe have led them.

We are in limbo until after the election so I believe any chance of a recovery is held up because people will not start spending until they know how much money they are likely to be left with after the budget reducing measure have been implemented.

My one major concern is avoiding a Stirling collapse due to the bond markets giving up on us.

There are a lot of pensioners and the prudent who are being robbed via low interest rates to bail out the imprudent. If they then had their savings value swept away in a devaluation then the cost to us all would be massive.

I feel that we will be driven that way.

I am getting as worried now as much as when no one could see the crash coming but some off us could.

What Government and the power that be including the Journo's can't see
is, waiting to see the signs of recovery before we stop printing money is a blind stupidity.

For the economy to turn the corner the ordinary punter will have to have confidence in their situation.

They will then go out and start making purchases.

So you want me to go out and spend?

My first thought is how safe is my job?

If I have my job how much will I be left with after the Labour hand has been dipped into my pocket for the extra to pay of this Mother of all debts?

You can't answer that question.
The Government won't answer that question because they want it to come to light on the Tory watch.

We are being asked to make important investment decisions with a massive piece of the necessary information being kept from us for political reasons.

So will I invest in something that could seriously threaten my financial situation without knowing how much extra tax I am going to be forced to pay for Labour incompetence?

No

Due to the massive mess we are in and the fact no one will tell us how much it is going to cost us. We will not spend so the country will not grow as it should.
They will keep printing because we are not showing signs of coming out of recession and round it will go.

WE NEED HONESTY IN HOW MUCH IT IS GOING TO COST US AND OVER WHAT TIME PERIOD.

Only then can we make our spending plans for the future.

You and all of the other opinion former should be relentless in getting the answers to these questions.

People will not spend until they know it is safe to do so.

As long as you allow Labour to get away with not spelling out the cost then picture will remain incomplete and we will not spend.

To sum it up before I spend any more money in your restaurant can I see the bill please so I know if I can afford it?

aren't we all just living in a Phoney war pre-election illusion.

Whether we are technically in or out of recession doesn't matter.

The elephant in the room is the debt mountain and the measure that will have to be taken to get rid of it without loosing the bond markets.

Labour will not reveal the elephant and will pull every leaver so that it will only come to light after the Tories win power so that they can be blamed.

In 12 month time it will be there for all to see and GDP and every other measure will be blown to the 4 winds by the impact on the economy.

We have not yet reach the day of reckoning but its coming straight after the election.

Nick I don't understand what proposal is snouts in the trough?

It seems very sensible to me.

Anything on the new wad of money Labour are handing to the bankers while they are still been given bonuses for failure?

Can we afford it?

I believe it is extra to the stupid forecasts on borrowing so we could be into 235 Billion this year.

Even the Tory plans to inflict pain and save 7 billion pale into significance when someone is running debt up for you of this magnitude.

At what point do we become insolvent and have we already passed it?

It's all very simple there is

Fractional Reserve Banking

and

The casino.

What you describe as 'liquidity put' or derivative or some other stupid name is equivalent to Horse or Dogs or IN-Play betting. It is just a poker game for those who can bluff the best or take an ill informed punt.

That why we need to separate the two. Let these institutions gamble as much as they want but not with money from people who have not invested in their game.

Here is a good economic theory.

Don't spend more than you earn.
Don't borrow more than you can service for your earnings.

It can be summed up by 'Live within your means'.

Everything else is just window dressing to pull in the suckers.

I would like to put to you the most important question on my mind.

As a tax payer how much do I owe and how long will it take me to pay off?

Is there one of your economists that can tell me?
I bet you that you cannot find one that can give me a correct answer.

And if they can't even answer that simple question how can I trust them with anything else?

I already view every Government announcement from the stand point that if you believe the exact opposite of what they say you wont go far wrong.

This banking change is another lost opportunity to force real change for the future.

We need to ensure that TO BIG TO FAIL is not used again to rob the people of their money.

Also will there ever be an investigation to seek out wrong doing and prosecute those responsible?
I think not because it could all end back at 10 - 11 Downing street
