A year in the arts 10:54pm on 31 Dec 2008 It would have been interesting to read your review of the arts or view it, but all I got was a black box with a little graphic twiddling around in the centre. After 90 seconds, Windows gave me the message that Flash Player 9 was causing my PC to run slowly and would I like to abort. As I'd had enough of the twiddling graphic, I aborted.

When are BBC programmers going to stop playing around with Flash Player? I've been getting this problem ever since the BBC updated it's website. If your programmers need help using Flash Player, tell them to visit the Muppets website. No problem. Amusing too, which is more than I can say for the twiddling graphic.

Or is the BBC determined to add to the computer divide by excluding those of us with older PCs?

Instead of writing the above essay, you should have been at Tate Britain today to report on the Stuckist demo against the Turner Prize.

I'm sure Turner would turn in his grave if he know how his name is being abused to promote tripe. No artistic genius has been discovered or awarded. The winners have been a succession of twerps whose only talent is self-promotion.

The prize has become so embarrassing that no sponsor could be found for it this year. Time to call "Time" on the Turner Prize.
