Why Sir James Crosby resigned 5:50pm on 11 Feb 2009 The FSA's support of Crosby is a disgrace.

FSA should be investigating why HBOS' compliance officer was summarily sacked for doing his job, as he clearly was.

Why would any compliance officer bother to stick their neck out if that's the regulators response?

Does nobody at Panorama understand the difference between perfectly legitimate uses of offshore corporations and tax fraud?

People who have failed to declare offshore earnings are rightly being rounded up by the tax authorities. That's one thing.

But there's nothing wrong with offshore funds, securitisation and so on, all of which can be done in a perfectly transparent, and tax neutral way. But I guess it's easier to sneer at it than it is to do your research properly.

The Beeb really needs to break with its remorseless anti-business slant.
We own Royal Bank 2:21pm on 30 Nov 2008 Does this superficial, cheap-shot type of article really qualify as journalism? After several months I would have thought Robert Peston could have looked at the causes in slighlty more depth, including the role of government, regulators in permitting the ramp up of asset prices, failure of liquidity, lax lending on PC grounds and so on. But then I guess that would offend his 'friends' in government.
