Been a while, eh?

"So, this was a very personal plea to the British people to trust him to sort out the mess he says Labour has created.

It's going to be a long and nerve-racking wait to see if they do."

Exactly what is nerve-racking about a 14-point lead in the polls? I really don't see this one as being on a knife-edge.

BTW: Labour interns have really been hitting this post, don't you think? Lot higher percentage than usual. They should be pounding the streets - I don't imagine their comments will change any opinions here.

Only a matter of time before your comment is removed on the grounds that it, er, broke House Rules (which it doesn't).

Increasingly, Nick is becoming the story.

So, come to think of it, this comment will probably be removed before you have a chance to read it.

Increasingly, the comments to your posts question your integrity and bias toward Labour.

Rightly or wrongly is not the point. The point is that YOU are rapidly becoming the story, which threatens the entire newsroom and not just your reputation.

To pull us out of this recession, the Government must cut spending, or raise taxes, or conflate the two.

But then, that sort of information is hidden in books.

This is a very important point.

Did Labour falsely claim to the Press that they were whipping for Becket?

If they did, then the real intention was to vote for Bercow.

It either happened that way, or more that 300 Labour MPs defied the whip.

The effect of this was to make Becket the bookies' favourite, at the same time lengthening the odds on Bercow, making him the rank outsider.

If any Labour MPs placed a bet on Bercow to win, then this could be seen as manipulating the betting market, no differently to soccer betting syndicates.

So the thing you should be asking Labour MP's is: "Do you place a bet on this at a bookmarker?"

Bet you don't, though!

To repair the damage done to his boss's reputation is easy. All Lewis needs to do is:

- Build around 1.5m new homes
- Repay around 40% of the national debt
- Hold a referendum on the Lisbon treaty
- Hold the Iraq inquiry in public

You have to start telling the complete story. The IFS estimates that in order to protect its ring-fenced spending (e.g. NHS, Education) then the other departments' public spending will have to be cut by 7%

So the real story is no that Labour will continue to invest (it will cut by 7%) but that the Tories will cut (by, at most, 10%).

The choice to the public will be the EXTENT of cut (7% or 10%). Wait until The Sun gets hold of that one, and we both know which way they will jump.
