Currently, the only consistent thing about the channel is it's inconsistency.

Alas, that is their standard response - at least that's the response I received when I submitted a complaint via the web page. Also note the lack of option to take the matter further if you are dissatisfied with their response! Another dead end, I'm afraid!

Our only hope is for a satisfactory response (and subsequent action) from Paul's appeal to the BBC Trust.

That looks more like a painting Monet might daub rather than "HD" television.

Clearly though, this is how the producers intended it to look and only now visible thanks to the wonderful combination of new encoders / reduced bit-rate. Right, Ms Nagler?
Points of View and HD Picture Quality: a response 00:25am on 16 Nov 2009 Doctor Who tonight was the first programme in months that I've been able to enjoy on BBCHD due to the, almost total, lack of distracting visual artefacts. What a novel idea - a broadcast chain that is transparent to the end user!!

If there hadn't been a problem with the audio it would have been even better. I'm sure the producers would have included a great Dolby Digital surround track.
Points of View and HD Picture Quality: a response 11:59pm on 15 Nov 2009 Top Gear studio shots were good including the swooping camera shots so I'd say 50i here. Exterior stuff looked 25p which was clearly a directorial choice but meant jerky horizontal pans but overall looked ok. Still lots of exterior SD footage, mainly in-car, and more than I was expecting. Approaching that 25% limit Ms Nagler?

Audio was dull.
Points of View and HD Picture Quality: a response 8:12pm on 15 Nov 2009 Derek, I could turn off the HDMI override on my V+ box which would result in the same thing. It's just not on though, is it? These issues really should have been sorted by now.

Back to PQ, I must say Doctor Who had a great picture all the way through. Reminds me of the excellent first episode of Torchwood when it was first broadcast on BBCHD (the opening scene in the rain).
