From a fellow liverpool fan, you are talking out your rear end a bit!

United do have great players in the rest of the team - it's foolish to suggest they will crumble without Ronaldo. He is 'irreplaceable', but do they need to replace him? In my eyes a decent right winger (Valencia) would be enough for them, as there's quality in the rest of the team. Berbatov and Rooney could be a ridiculously good combination if they start up front all the time.

Now all we need is a reliable right back, a striker and a good midfield all-rounder. Oh, and a new winger :D

This was a decent blog this week, although sometimes Robbo does just rabble on, it's just supposed to be an entertaining read, not a thorough critique of modern day football and it's social and moral implications.

As for the boro - liverpool game, liverpool were awful, but Boro were very shaky at the back. If Liverpool could have taken advantage it might have been different. However they played poorly as the game went on - Boro improved a lot second half and punished Liverpool.

Do you think a similar thing has happened to the SPL? no longer able to attract the same quality players as Larsson, Kanchelskis etc and the top scorer (and arguable best striker) only bid for by a Championship club?

Analysis over numbers, goals before statistics 2:49pm on 12 Jan 2009 Great, great blog. Enjoyed reading it a lot. I'd agree that statistics obviously don't show everything, but think they are both useful and interesting for fans to look at and/or debate.

As for the sports investors coming into the game, it's becoming scary. The whole Tevez affair has highlighted how much more football is becoming business-like. What would happen if Sheffield United get their compensation? Could set a big precedent
Ferguson takes first round of long campaign 10:40am on 12 Jan 2009 the problem for Liverpool is that they have a tendency to drop more points than United do, so having United in front by even a single point is a big disadvantage. I can see the game against Man United at Old Trafford being absolutely massive now!
