Monumental new song from Martin Simpson 6:23pm on 18 Jun 2009 I heard 'One Day' for the first time just under two weeks ago when Martin played it at the Gate To Southwell Festival. It took my breath away. One of his finest and that's saying something.
Bring On The Great British Folk Festival Season! 6:13pm on 16 Feb 2009 Is the site here doing a 'festival planner' page as they have done in the past? It was extremely useful. I've only just started thinking about festival season and already I'm losing track of which weekends I need to worry about potential clashes for.
Remembering The Old Pubs 1:58pm on 10 Dec 2008 Didn't you also once do a routine about the way the marketing men have used images of those great, traditional pubs to sell their brands, at the same time as the breweries are closing them down or turning them into the plastic nightmares you described?

Another trend that has badly affected sessions and folk-clubs where I am is the habit of turning tradtional pubs into something more like a bistro or a 'gastro-pub'. Those back rooms and snugs that are ideal for music sessions are too often seen as prime real estate for dining and live music gets the boot once again.
