No shortage of drama in Japan 08:49am on 06 Oct 2009 Im a formula 1 novice but felt that the crash with 10 laps to go cost Jenson dear in Japan. He had closed a 3 second gap on his brawn team mate and i think would have taken him-Rosberg was still to pit and i feel without the crash Button would have finished 6th rosberg 7th and bara 8th.

As Mr Brawn said if he gets qualifying right he should wrap it up over the 2 races

Injuries take their toll on England's lionheart 09:05am on 16 Jul 2009 My opinion is that Flintoff is his early international career underperformed hugely-down to his weight and maybe his attitude. The weight issue must have impacted on his body as this has stifled his career somewhat.
What is interesting is how often he played through his injuries having countless injections often returning to the fold not fully recovered. This was because the ecb rushed him back so often as he was a major player for England.
He does have over 200 wickets which is more than decent as initially he was a batter who bowled a bit. He never really filled his boots with wickets or runs against the lesser sides as have other seamers in the past for england.
He has under achieved with the bat often seems unsure as how to build an innings
Last night geraint Jones said how freddie would get into the changing rooms after a hard days test cricket and collapse in his chair exhausted-i feel when he plays he gives 110 percent-not all recent england players can say this.
Also he was instrumental in winning the only ashes series that i have witnessed after years of being bashe by the aussies
Just think about this although his averages are not great how many players do england have to come in that will bat 7 and score test hundreds and also take wickets bowling fast-Stuart Broad? Dont make me laugh

England realised they were not really at the races in this game but are still level

Ashes player ratings - First Test 7:59pm on 12 Jul 2009 Slightly odd Ratings If Kp gets a 6 for a match total of 77 runs why did Swann get a 4 for a match total of 78 runs and a not out. I understand Swann was in the side as a bowler and was poor but its only fair you take into account both areas of peoples games.

Anderson again bowled poorly but contributed well with bat and maybe deserved a 6/7

Also another point if we were to base any changes in the side on the player ratings then cook is first to go then broad/Swann. Ditch panesar broad and bring in onions and Harmison
Storm clouds gather over Camp England 12:46pm on 12 Jul 2009 To start with I believe Australia are the much better side mentally physically and most importantly skillfully.
I do believe England have tried to shoot themselves in the foot-I agree with an earlier comment saying 2 spinners was a poor choice and I believe onions should have been included owing to his good performances in his maiden test matches and his county form. 2 spinners has meant a huge workload for the seamers-As has the seamers awful performances.

That aside Katich was plumb to swann-that would have helped.
If anderson had a basic skill of cricket(getting behind the stumps for a shot that produceda tight 2nd run) Haddin would have been run out for less than 50-That would have helped.
Bopara had a tough call-may have helped

England go 1 down and need to re-assess

Onions and dare I say it Harmison should play-otherwise we will struggle to get 20 wickets-leave out 2 of anderson broad panesar-I would stick with anderson although his performances are regularly not test class.

To finish-
All those people saying they are fed up of watching boring test matches on flat wickets-this pitch will produce a result-maybe due to Englands poor cricket but it still has produced a result
Peerless Ponting steamrollers England's hopes 7:16pm on 09 Jul 2009 If England can only muster Anderson and Broad as there new ball bowlers then there is no way we will beat a side ranked above us. Anderson looked very ordinary and lacked a bit of fire. Broad bowled better than his figures suggested but was made to look average by the australian batsmen. As for Englands supposed superior spin bowling well what can I say. Hauritz turned the ball square off the wicket(No footholes needed) right from his first over of the day. Then when swann and panesar turned up somehow the ball hardly gripped at all. In fact anyone watching cricket for the first time over the last 2days could see that hauritz is equal if not better than our attack. I will even put my neck out and say he will take more wickets than either england spinner this series. In fact probably even combined
