Your questions to Andy Murray 12:59pm on 17 Jun 2009 I'm going to be greedy and offer three questions to Murray:

1. You are often described by commentators as a player with no weaknesses. What I want to know is, which attacking shot do you think is your strongest, and which do you have most confidence hitting?

2. Which tournament win do you consider to be your most important to date? In my opinion it was the Cincinnati Masters.

3. Can you pinpoint which single match in your career you have learnt the most from?
Cech gives Chelsea final hope 09:05am on 29 Apr 2009 I didn't see anything to give Chelsea encouragement. They only just managed to hold on when they had eleven men in their own half for most of the match. They will have to try and score at home, and I can't see them keeping out Barcelona whilst scoring at the other end.

Perhaps they will play for penalties, but in my opinion Barca are in the box seat.
The private life of Rio Ferdinand 2:17pm on 24 Apr 2009 The trouble is, when a footballer tries to sound like they have a social conscience they end up saying something daft like "it makes you realise we are lucky even to be able to order a pizza", or that they think it would be interesting to learn about the political views of the Princes.

Fair play to him for his charity work though.
Downcast Benitez fears worst 3:21pm on 22 Apr 2009 I think the reason it was such an open game was because Arsenal pushed Fabregas onto Alonso, and pushed their midfield quite high. Wenger's game plan was basically win or bust, (and in a strange way he nearly ended up with both).

This meant we couldn't build from the back, but it also gave Kuyt and Benayoun alot of space between the Arsenal midfield and back four. The upshot of that was that ball travelled from back to front quickly for both teams, and both defences were constantly harried into mistakes.

If we hadn't equalised I think the title race would be dead and buried. The pyschological impact we would have suffered from a 4-3 defeat would have been insurmountable, irrespective of whether United go on to drop six or more points. As it is, you get the feeling that the equaliser gave the players a bit of momentum.
Tired Man Utd need escape act 12:29pm on 08 Apr 2009 Another problem which hasn't been discussed here is a lack of leadership on the pitch. When you are winning games easily and in good form you don't need leadership, but once you fall into a trough you need leaders to bring confidence and pull you through.

Who are the leaders for United at the moment? Beyond Ferdinand there isn't an obvious answer to that. The lack of leadership last night was exemplified by the pathetic body language of Ronaldo, in particular his look of disgust at Giggs taking responsibility for that free kick in injury time. If you are undermining each other in that way it makes it harder to pull through and win.
Capello's balancing act 1:19pm on 27 Mar 2009 I think that Rooney is a very good player and he brings a lot to the England team. The stale cliche that if you 'take away his aggression' you take away something from his game is very frustrating though, because the problem is with indiscipline, not aggression.

There is nothing wrong with controlled aggression during the game that you focus into chasing down the opposition, winning the ball back, and general work rate.

But when you lose control of that aggression and start stamping on opposition players, throwing the ball away, constantly swearing at the ref, and punching the corner flay your indiscipline is not only unsightly, but it is detrimental to the interests of your team.

The majority of top players in the world have controlled aggression and will to win, but they don't let that slip over into indiscipline as often as Rooney does, (which is basically whenever his team are losing).
Six Nations Team of the Tournament 12:02pm on 23 Mar 2009 Lee Byrne didn't have the greatest tournament, the Scotland game aside, but I think if he had stayed on the field Ireland might not have gone on to win.

His kicking game is immense, and he is an excellent broken field runner, as well as running great angles into the line. His defense might have kept Bowe out for the second Irish try as well. Not begrudging Ireland the win though - they deserved it for fortitude alone.

A second welsh player who has to start in the backs is Stephen Jones. His kicking and passing is comparable to O'Gara's, (albeit O'Gara often finds inventive kicks to put widemen in), but he adds calmness and tackling ability.
Liverpool make Ferguson suffer 12:12pm on 15 Mar 2009 As a Liverpool fan, I would say that United are still certain to win the league. It is almost impossible to make up a further seven or eight points on them. United are best equipped to beat the majority of teams in the league, because they have the most options in attack.

The Champions League is a different matter altogether. All the remaining teams (apart from Porto) have the defensive and tactical ability to nullify the opposition's threat, whilst posing one of their own. And I think any of the remaining teams could go on and get to the final.

As for the people saying United would have won if Vidic and Evra hadn't played poorly, there is a simple reason why they played poorly - they couldn't handle Torres and Gerrard. Accept defeat with some grace, because there can be no excuses.
