Drip drip drip 4:35pm on 14 Sep 2009 I'm sorry Betsan, I have to correct you on one technical point - I'm sure you don't want to be seen giving Plaid an easy ride.

They did not say that they would hold the referendum "on or before the 2011 Assembly election as long as it's felt the public want one."

The agreement with Labour says 'proceed to a successful outcome of a referendum for full law-making powers under part 4 as soon as practicable at or before the end of the Assembly term.'

No mention of popular public opinion.

That was a line they added later when the other parties started challenging them when it started to become likely that the referendum wouldn't happen.

Please in future don't buy their belated-spin. Do the job of a journalist and help hold them to account for the promises they have made?

But you missed one possibility - that Labour lose their second seat and the Lib Dems pick up their first. Isn't it true that the Liberals need a much smaller swing to get one seat than either Plaid or the Tories need to get their second?

And if what you say about the expenses scandal affecting Labour and the Tories more than Plaid and the Lib Dems is true, then the Lib Dems are surely in a good position to increase their vote.

I don't know, it just seems like a glaring omission, especially since you've considered all other possibilities (including the possibility that Labour might hold onto their second seat - which is a ludicrous notion if you ask me, or indeed anyone else).
I'll have what he's having 2:07pm on 13 Nov 2008 Maybe it's not as important as a recession, but Plaid have to think carefully about what it is they're getting out of this coalition.

It looks like the Labour party are walking all over us from where I'm sitting.

It's not only the housing thing, but we were promised a referendum on full powers and that has been pretty much silenced by the Labour party in Wales and in London.

And what happened to the Welsh Language powers? Again Labour has blocked them. I donlt know if it is Labour in the Welsh Assembly or the English party that is blocking it, but, Rhodri Morgan doesn;t seem to be sticking up for Wales. If he is siding with Labour in London on the housing isue, then he is probably doing the same on the referendum and the Welsh language.

I think Plaid needs to be much stronger in demanding things from Labour otherwise they will walk all over us.
