A bonus super-tax 09:14am on 07 Dec 2009 I appreciate the logic that if the banks insist on paying over the top bonus/income after receiving tax money, that the proposed super tax will recoup some of the tax payers money.

However, we need to see the detail of this proposed tax, for I fear the bankers will use their 'talent' to avoid paying this extra tax with some sort of tax relief/reducer arrangement.....

The tax proposal will be another last minute botch up, and in tradition with most British large organistions will be full of errors and incompetence. Labour is poorly run managed, so this is going to be another mess.

Politics is a waste of time and money. We need public sector pension scheme's reduced.....we need an unhealthy tax for the individuals who place unecessary strain on the NHS....reduce the welfare system - if benefit claimants can afford mobile phones, flat screen tv's, then they are getting too much! Remove all immigrants with immediate effect.

Why can't we have an open and honest system in the UK where all the 'political correctness' nonsense is got rid of! Time to end politics as we know it; the UK should be looked after by a committee of measured individuals, not by a bunch of self indulgent ego freaks trying to advance their careers! Can't wait for one of them to canvass on my doorstep......
Why did Bank of England keep shtoom? 12:39pm on 25 Nov 2009 The policy makers need to line up against a wall.....

This country needs to be looked after by a syndicate of individuals who will do it for the benefit of the UK; not for their own career benefit and six figure salaries. The current outfit are driven by greed and are responsible for over inflating the UK position for many years. They've been cooking the books in every aspect for far too long now.

I imagine they didn't want mainstream media to report for fear of a run on those banks. By keeping quiet they took individual's choice's away from them! Bit like an aeroplane about to crash land, just that the pilot didn't say 'brace' and get the life jackets because he was adverse to screaming.

Time to end politics as we know it!!
Tories tweaking their message 8:05pm on 23 Nov 2009 I was informed about a quango this morning, where the office manager buys a shopping basket full of fruit twice a week for all the staff to munch on at will. The cost of this is put on the expenses; and whilst I appreciate this is a relatively small amount, it perhaps does highlight how these organisations are chucking the money down the drain.

This particular quango is designed to get young people into work, but mainly spends their time taking telephone calls from individuals complaining that they haven't received their free welfare payments!

I was made redundant six months, now set up on my own, working way past the typical 9-5. So I'm not sorry to demand that the public sector jobworths who spend their days moving paper from one part of an office to another should be removing into the private sector and employed to manufacture items. Perhaps we could get them making Austin Allegro's again, because the mess of the UK socially and culturally, we are going backwards.

It verges on breathtaking as to how many individuals are oblivious to the economic shambles that is unfolding.

Now if a politician stepped forward and said "I'll be PM, and to prove I'm doing it for the love of the UK, just pay me £20,000 per year" Politics is so self-indulgent.

Any interested political party should be publishing a clear strategy as to how they are going to deal with this crisis. They should stand up and lay out plans on which to hang their hat on. None of this ambiguity as spouted by Cameron.

The blood is simmering, the establishment needs....lets say, refreshing!
Weighing up Button's McLaren move 10:56am on 19 Nov 2009 Jenson is a classic English gentleman who will always remain polite and charming, displaying some true character. Lewis is an arrogant upstart who always throws his toys out of the pram when it doesn't go his way.

I view Jenson will be more consistent than Lewis; although potentially not as fast, I think Jenson's temperament will win through, whilst Lewis stamps his feet having hissy fits for the whole season.

Why and how would any team favour one driver over another, by providing better support etc?? Otherwise the teams may as well only bother with one car and one driver and save a vast amount of money.

Bonus buck stops with Brown 1:55pm on 06 Feb 2009 It's clearly time to start regulating the remuneration of financial services individuals and this seems like the start of it. If earnings were capped, it would remove the greed aspect and subsequent risk taking with other individuals money!!!! Then we should be able to weed out these financial crooks.

Having previously been a RBS employee, I do not believe that 176,000 employees have been generating valuable profit. By my reckoning only a tenth genuinely add value.

Mint Mr Mint (post 145); especially points 9 and 10.

Since the introduction of working/child tax credits, think how many households upgraded to owning two cars (which they can't even afford to run and service properly), and changed their television sets more often than their pants!

I agree: cut welfare benefits as most of it gets spent on discretionary rubbish, instead of intellectual and social development.

We must presume that you yourself are employed by the public sector. Let's guess...jobsworth in the local authority...typified by your relentless whinging for a pay rise.

Public sector workers are supported more than enough already by the other tax payers. Who on earth do you think props up their pensions!!!! Good grief, give them extra pay!!
