Anyone can become a Sir, Lord, Knighted etc all you need to do is provide our very own Liebour government with enough £ sorry $$ would be better with the current state of stirling, you'll be in the house of lords quick as a flash, then you can make all the money back by receiving bribes to get the various non important laws through the lords.

I just love the way our democracy works and to think we go around the world preaching to others!

Sorry rant over, it's just with Broon visiting you in the states no one there really cares but here we have to suffer his face all over tv and most of us would like to forget him quite frankly!

Confusion on the wildcat strikes (2) 2:26pm on 03 Feb 2009 There are very valid points from both sides, but we are in recession and no one knows how long it will last and how many people will be unemployed these experts are only guessing like the average person on the street. I think it is grossly unfair to tar British workers with this not as educated, not as hard working, not as skilled as other EU nationals especially the not having the same work ethic, these people are completely wrong, there are many millions of British workers who work very hard are very skilled and educated working in all industries and sectors, there is this chav and benefit culture which is becoming an epidemic but, this problem is also evident across the other EU states but only the British get critisied.

I like many more find it amazing that a Company can bring in foreign labour on the same pay and conditions as Bristish labour and put them up in this floating hotel and still be cheaper than an Company employing British labour to do this same job.

# 12 Total may be a French firm, but they are operating in Britain for a reason and it is certainly not just to provide employment or for any other reason to benefit Britain it purly for profit their profit, so how about putting alittle something back into this economy, I am sure you would also feel angered if you were unemployed and skilled to do a job in which 400 foreign nationals were shipped in to do, don't worry most people would be.
Restless America 4:01pm on 12 Jan 2009 I find it hard to reason why someone who is 3rd 4th or even 5th generation American would still class themselves as Itailian - American, surly if you are born and bred in a place you are of that place e.g. America. I am British, but I would imagine if I went back long enough there would be all sorts thrown into the mix that is now me, but I am British.

If I moved to American I would still be British, but a Brit (not sure if I am allowed to say Brit as we are getting very uptight at the moment around the shortening of place names!) living in America any children I had there would be American with a British mother.

This hypenated carry on is finding its way into our way now, any forms you fill in you are asked are white - British / White - Other great to go around stating you are white other! British Asian or Indian Asian so on and so on.

Health care heartbreak 4:32pm on 07 Jan 2009 I wish people would stop refering to the NHS as free, because to the hard working tax payer it is anything but free. The NHS framework is good but unfortunately it is abused by anyone and everyone and used as a bartering tool for MP's, there are far more administrators than beds all on high salaries. The money squandered by the NHS could and would pay for better treatments and drugs.

All this said in times of emergency I am so glad we have our system and not the American one, in these cases you are seen, diagnosed and treated very quickly other then that you have to wait and see if there is a bed available!!
MEPs reject UK opt-out 2:26pm on 17 Dec 2008 When the EU manage to balance their books accordingley, maybe then people will listen but I am affraid most people just see the MEP's as corrupt bullies take Ireland for instance.

I would like to see what would happen if they decided that the French 35 hour system wasn't enough!! Like most people all over Europe people will work as many or as few hours as they feel they need to get by on, so these MEP are all just quaffing about something which very few will take much notice of.

I think the UK could do much better in the customer relations department, it is most certainly a case of 'computer says no'

I do not agree with university tutition fees for proper degrees

Better weather have summers with some sun and winter with some snow not 52 weeks of wind and rain

A streight forward tax system no stealth taxes especially on petrol (gas)
