knowing where I pay my tax does not provide any further clarity to my point.

I am not seeking to speak on anyone's behalf merely to represent my views on the situation being discussed.

the bank bailouts transfer money from the humble tax payer to the super rich and political classes; the very group that got us into the mess we are in.

by allowing the banks to survive and not take their punishment, the working classes have been saddled with debt for a lifetime and more.

ignoring accounting practices, goldman's money is direct from the US Tax payer via AIG. if AIG had been allowed to go bankrupt, Goldman's would have gone with it as although they made the right calls they made them with someone who could not afford to pay.

we humble tax payers would then not be burdened with the debt.

it is enough to make you weep.

how much we have to cut spending will be determined by those who buy our debt, not by any politicians.

there is no other choice.

taxes will rise and public spending will be decimated.

this will have to happen whatever political creed is elected.

to think anything else is cloud cuckoo land. any political party claiming otherwise is lying.

the rise in the BDI is mainly based on the demand for iron ore in capesize (large) vessels to china. this product is mainly for infrastructure projects funded by the chinese govenrment.

the european, japanese, korean steel mills are all still on a go slow.

smaller ships carrying grains and steel products and minor ores are still in the doldrums.

there are no capesize vessels mothballed at the moment. however, there is approximately 85pct of the fleet on order for delivery over the next 3 years (mainly 2010).

the container market (carrying consumer goods) is still in the depths of despair particularly on the small sizes. there are many, many container ships mothballed.

the rise in the BDI is not indicating the start of the next consumer boom.

it's not going to make one jot of difference when the root cause of the problem i.e. toxic debts are still there and have not been addressed.

if we have a tax credit boost (you couldn't make it up) then government spending has to be reduced as well.
