Thought for the Day reconsidered 6:56pm on 18 Jul 2009 Great news that Thought for the Day is receiving publicity,I personally believe in God and value what one would call the sacred approach,but in this complex and increasingly complicated world,one has to be willing to listen to what others,including non-believers,have to say.
Prayer for the Day is often very powerful too.
From my point of view,the sooner Sahaja Yoga www.sahaja.org becomes mainstream the better.More people should be made aware of this wonderful gift to humanity.
It would be great to have speakers introducing BBC listeners to Sahaja Yoga.
Suggest a story 10:23am on 15 Jul 2009 I really hate certain noises,like the sound of coughing or traffic or horns.
I've just written a line to a co-ordinator for the National Perceptions Forum(connected to Rethink,the charity formerly known as the National Schizophrenia Fellowship),saying I want to send an article about what I know about the word "Tisick" or "Cough" in Shakespeare in 2HIV and Troilus and Cressida.I know exactly whare it appears in Shakespeare from the glossary by C.T.Onions,but it's a question of motivating myself to write.The will is weak.Does anyone else find noises distracting or hurtful or spiteful.One or two psychologists have told me they can be.
The Great Kettle Experiment 5:23pm on 12 Jul 2009 In the time it takes to boil a kettle I could say a mantra using words learnt from Sahaja Yoga or I could remember my gratitude to the iconic writer James Joyce for the beautiful line,"God spoke to you by so many voices but you would not hear."
God a mercy,would that thou believe me,as Shakespeare wrote.That stuff can do wonders.
There's enough Divine power to do the spiritual equivalent of providing a cup of tea for the whole world.
Suggest a story 5:29pm on 08 Jul 2009 I've just had an e-mail from the deputy editor of the Pharmaceutical Journal (letters) to say again he is not interested in publishing about Sahaja Yoga www.sahaja.org which is a shame especially as it was about innovation in the NHS.
The papers won't take it as Shri Mataji,the guru and founder of Sahaja Yoga,has said.
This remains as source of sadness and disappointment for me at least.
Talking to the BNP...update. 8:00pm on 13 Jun 2009 That discussion with the BNP supporter interested me,as my partner is Indian in origin and we have two children.The guru and founder of Sahaja Yoga,which I follow,is Indian and called Shri Mataji.
So I have invested into culture other than my own original background.
The thing is,no one would trade with the UK if we endorse the idea of separation according to race.No one wants a military junta with everyone looking the same.Or do some people really want that,that's where it starts becoming a bit complicated.Look what happens if you start saying,"Ein Volk,ein Reich,ein Fuhrer"(one people,one kingdom and one leader).That way is just mad,crazy.
We do need to address these fanatical ideas with reasonable discussion and push back on them.
Don't let evil ideas take root in our society.I'm glad I voted last week,at least it will help keep those bigoted people and their ideas like poison at bay.

The biggest mistake of your life? 10:05pm on 07 Jun 2009 It is very sad that the error made by the pharmacist Mrs.Lee happened,and one of the most important points to make,I feel,is that errors are going to become more and more common because of the increasing volume of prescription items dealt with in retail chemist outlets(community pharmacists).
This issue,the extreme stress put upon community pharmacies,needs to be addressed.
I've worked as a pharmacist in community for about twelve years,and if you want to see an account of how a pharmacist has a mental breakdown in a pharmacy,do visit the website of the National Perceptions Forum www.perceptionsforum.org.uk where I have a piece under my name "Andrew Low" called "An Incident in the Dispensary".
I was very interested to hear the one listener,a doctor I think,felt one should cover up errors,sweep them under the carpet,but I do not agree with this.This is why things like the Dr.Harold Shipman murders took place.Sure,we do not need to broadcast errors more than necessary,but it's wrong,although possibly easier in some cases,to hide them.
Cancer. Worth fighting? 6:21pm on 01 Feb 2009 Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi,the guru and founder of Sahaja yoga,says a good bit about cancer,and there is an excellent recording of a lecture Shri Mataji gave in Derby in July 1982.Amongst other things Shri Mataji mentioned "cruelty" as an element that can lie behind the development of cancer.
I would recommend a closer acquaintance with Sahaja yoga,especially following what Eddie's guest,the oncologist,said about the value of and evidence for non-medical,complementary therapies.Also Sahaja yoga is free.
Cancer. 6:14pm on 01 Feb 2009 On a spiritual level,I've often thought that schizophrenia,from which I suffer,is quite a serious condition,often compared to diabetes by doctors.There is a DVD called "Schizophrenia:cancer of the spirit",with Dr.Peter Maddocks,a psychiatrist.Both cancer and schizophrenia are conditions which have been in the shadows,this still is the case with SZP.One of my apocalyptic nightmares is that we are living in a deadly epidemic of a schizophrenic illness where knowledge of things like James Joyce and Sahaja yoga could be the antidote or cure.
Your News this week 6:05pm on 01 Feb 2009 On the counter in the shop where I work,I had a conversation with a lady from Ireland about James Joyce,and mentioned the line,"God spoke to you by so many voices but you would not hear".
