Not only from the cricket perspective, but to talk of Indian food and Indian rail travel makes me feel like running off to India for the next Test at least! Thanks mate for your all round outlook. Just talking cricket would have been a bit boring but to mix it with food and travel makes it worthwhile reading your articles!
Indian thoughts return to cricket 5:59pm on 09 Dec 2008 I hope this series will remove the horrors of the Bombay blast. I sincerly hope that cricket would be the winner and I wish both the teams well.
Shorter games, long-running concerns for English cricket 6:28pm on 15 Nov 2008 This was a good article as was several articles before this on the same subject. (I had written about the same thing in 606 debate as recently as 2 days back). The fact of the matter is this. The ECB, particularly Clarke has to throw pride and arrogance aside and work with the IPL for the 2nd edition if not, they will not only miss the train leaving but the boat as well and with that the English players will miss out on playing with some the best players in the world in the IPL plus the added attraction of making some big bucks for a 6 week session! The IPL offered a good offer for the 1st edition and this was rejected by the ECB. They instead rather foolishly sort to outwit the Indians by falling into the bandwagon of a very greedy millionaire who had no interest in cricket but to make money for his own pocket! And the ECB will into that trap! Almost every Test playing countries were represented in the 1st IPL but rather sadly England was not there! Everybody with common sence knows the fiasco of the Stanford exercise to say the least! It was not a mistake but a great blunder! Now after this Stanford fiasco, Clarke is running tamely to Modi instead, who has played all the right cards at the right time, and this Modi can claim after the resounding sucess of the inaugaral IPL. The IPL had become a super hit and sucess even before the first ball was bowled! IPL has proved beyond a shadow of doubt that it is there to stay and nobody can ignore that fact! Whether Clarke likes it or not, he has to accept a second IPL offer as he very few bargaining chips left except his unwanted pride! It will greatly benifit the English players as a whole to play in the next IPL. There are millions in the sub continent wondering why England were not represented in the 1st IPL, and the blame for this is the ECB itself. Its high time they face up to the reality of this ball game where it is the IPL and Modi who are holding all the cards! Whether England accept an offer from the IPL for the 2nd edition or not the next fortnight or month would give an answer on that!
Australia outdone by a superior side 7:38pm on 12 Nov 2008 oh!, so Peter is English and that disqualifies him for giving his views. Have you seen Allan Borderl/Ian Chappel/Steve Waugh talking to the media in India after this series was lost. They were just as critical as Peter. Lastly Bob Simpson also writes a great deal to different cricketing magazines.
So if you want take Peter out of the way and send packing to England, why not add Border/CHappel/Waugh/Simpson out of your way and you will be at peace with yourself l

Australia outdone by a superior side 5:35pm on 12 Nov 2008 For your kind information I read a lot of Australian newspapers on the web and if you don't like the unbiased way Peter writes about cricket in the Australian newspaper then off course you have a problem. If you want to disown Peter as not a Australian, I think you should ask yourself the question who were the 1st inhabitants to come to Australia were in the first place, before disowning anyone as a puppet of the Indian syndicate. I think that is an insult to cricket journalists anywhere in the world. Peter may not be a legend to you but he is to the rest of the cricketing world. And lastly we don't discuss politics on this forum but cricket fair and square.

I wonder if you have ever followed Indian cricket, especially during the last 10 years. I don't even know, if you know Peter Roebuck the great legendry cricket writer or Mihir Bose for that matter or even all the journalists in the English Press who covered this series. Well, just to brush up your knowledge Peter Roebuck had this to say in his own words"The greatest rivalry in Test cricket for some years has been the one between Australia and India." Well that takes quiet some courage for an Australian to say publically! And this series victory is not just some flash in the pan, it has been in the making for years now! And did you even follow what happened when India toured Australia down under in 2007/08? Okay, India did not win the Test series and everybody in the cricketing world knows the Sydney Test , and even that unfortunate Sydney Test, did you even bother to read what Peter Roebuck had to say about that Test? And what do you have to say when during the same tour India won the ODI 2-0 beating Australia overwhelmingly!. So in short what India did in this series was not the unthinkable but the thinkable. And I think any cricketing country in the world would like to do something which their predessors did not do. Your article is not worth a piece of salt and I say so since I follow with interest all cricket matches no matter who the countries are! I wonder if you will have the same to say if England beat India or if India beat England. Whoever wins this England/India series we should give that team the credit. Cricket is not about Patriotism or any such nonsence, its all about playing this wonderful sport and testing each others skills. Thats what it was meant to be in the first place!

I enjoy reading your blog especially when it comes to cricket and I don't care which country is playing whom I still love this great game. Your comments are always unbiased and up to the point. You don't mess around! Thats exactly what makes your blog so very special and so entertaining to read. I hope you will continue doing so for all cricket fans around the world. In a nutshell you are brilliant and I say so since I have watched you for years on BBC World and started reading your blog about a year ago.
