Women who abuse children 3:50pm on 02 Oct 2009 A number of people were asking for some stats on how many female paedophiles operate independently and how many were influenced or perhaps cooerced by men (and falsely suggesting the later figure would be especially high)

Michelle Elliot is one of the foremost experts on the issues. On Sky news yesterdays she spoke of how the 800 female sex offenders she's worked with, only 25% had a man present, involved or even anywhere near!.

Nonsense - men are far more interested in visual stimulation (nto to mention technology) and thus will be trading pictures far mroe than female offenders. Female paedophiles will thus be far more interested in the acts themselves and perhaps relationships with the victims.

Furhter still, in our society men are constantly under suspicion whereas women are portrayed as innocent and blameless. (eg even government policy on domestic abuse talks about violence against "women and children". I.e. women are only ever the victims and of course the police operate under this very government.

Thus to summarise - you've got offenders less likely to collect evidence of their activities, less likely to be linked to similar offenders, and under far less suspicion, both by the authorities AND by all society as a whole. No wonder most women avoid capture.

Notice that even in this case it was the man's arrest that led them to the others. If he hadn't been around that woman at the nursery still be absusing the kids wouldn't she? I hate to think how many more women there are like her out there in our nurseries. Undoubtedly plenty of them are far more devious and intelligent and do not distribute photographic proof of their awful crimes and may never be caught (certainly not in the present culture anyway)
Women who abuse children 10:38pm on 01 Oct 2009 Mark - many, many thanks for having the guts to report the truth on this issue. A shame such vital information hidden away here on this blog though rather than being more prominent on the bbc sites.

You have missed one of two key points, most notable female sentencing discount as highlighted so eloquently in comment 9.

Also you seem to be suggesting that only children suffer when we falsely pretend only men are paedophiles. Males suffer too, most notably in terms of false allegations in in terms of the jobs market particularly when they want to enter teaching.

I real fell you should have gone all out to tell the truth here and actually have stated what really going on here. The way our government and media seeks to pretend only men are paedophiles is blatant misandry - I can't think of a worse type of sexism out there than this. If were always ignored all white sex offenders and only highlighted black ones then everyone would call it racism - this is clearly sexism so lets call it what it is please.

One last point - given the clear consensus from the statsitcs that there are large numbers of female paedophiels out there isn't it about time the bbc's output reflected this?

Can anyone think of a bbc drama, soap, documentary evening hinting at sexual offences by females against a child (or against anyone for that matter?). It seems to men we only ever see men in that role, thus the bbc is just a guilty as everyone else in terms of spreading these incredibly dangerous lies.

Actually come to think of it, I'd say the bbc were worse than many others - Comic relief even gives money to a charity campaigning to have less female prisoners when of course given how female paedophiles get away with their offences so easily, it's abundantly clear we need more such people brought to justice, not less!
How far have you gone to gain access to your children? 05:28am on 19 Sep 2009 I agree with other critisising Victoria's harsher approach to the male interviewees compared to females ones.

That was compounded by all the derogatory comments complaining about absent fathers etc - yes reading out one of those was fine, but adding the second was totally unnecessary and took the focus off the real issue.

I also found it strange that so much attention was given to the women fighting a custody battle in some foreign land thousands of miles away. I guess the bbc couldn't find any (adult) female victims of the family courts as they are usually the beneficiaries and thus had to look abroad.

Anyway, despite all this obvious sexism it was still something of a miracle to see the bbc even mention Father 4 Justice. In fact I don't think anyone in the organisation dares talk about them - I've never seen any of them on Radio 4 or any bbc tv channel ever (well unless you count invading the National Lottery!). No BBC station/channel other than 5 live really even acknowledges the existence of Father 4 Justice, so although people quite rightly condemn Victoria for bias, she's still actually way better than 95% her BBC colleagues who are so biased they won't even discuss these matters and acknowledge arguably the greatest and certainly most important civil rights movements of the 21st century.

No, everyone highlighted in this article having this debate EITHER refuses to acknowledge the facts OR in Duncan's Smith's case, acknowledges the facts 100% but can't see the key solution due to his obsession with marriage.

Plenty of people support equal parenting in separation cases, it sin't exactly something I've invented. In fact it's the law in so many countries all around the world all of which have far lesser problems in these areas (e.g. Sweden, Denmark, Belgium, Norway, Australia etc). Thus many many millions of people share my views 100%.

It would have been far better if the OEDC had distinguished between countries with shared parenting laws and those without, as I very much expect the incredible success of such laws skews the figures and hides the fact that family breakdown only generally results in major problems in countries with the winner take all system.

It's blindingly obvious that two parents are better than one (all other things being equal). That's an absolute wealth or research showing that both boys and girls benefit from having a father figure around.

Many single mothers do a great job under the circumstance, but inevitably it's still a far worse job on average than most two parent families

It's a shame the bbc have to be some blinded by their feminist agenda that they can't acknowledge such basic truths.

Of course Duncan-Smith is equally blinded by his dogged support for marriage that he ignores easily the best solution to broken families, which is of course the need to introduce Equal Parenting in seperation cases rather than just insist everyone stays married.

Thus in summary, everyone on all sides of the debate is either so biased one way or anther that they choose to ignore basic facts, or those acknowledging these facts still don't even acknowledge the possibility of the most obvious and practical solutions.

What a crazy world.
Statistical gender bending 02:37am on 13 Aug 2009 "asking Ms Harman to coordinate findings in sex equality is going to be rather like asking Nick Griffin to chair an investigation on immigration!"

Exactly, I can see little difference between the two other than they target a different type of victim with their lies propaganda and bigotry.

Of course Harman's blatant sexism is more socially acceptable than Griffin's racism, though really we should be condemning them both equally. It's scandalous that this nation has elected such awful individuals.

Quite clever really - get the comment censored when everyone is here wanting to read it, then everyone has gone elsehwhere by the time the bbc have got round to making a decision about it really should be deleted or not, thus no one ever really sees the comment either way.

Why men are to blame for the crunch 5:45pm on 29 Jul 2009 Quite possibly the most idiotic, sexist, dishonest, offensive, inaccurate post I've ever seen on any bbc blog ever.

Most points have been covered quite brilliantly by others, but one that has been missed of course if the failure of female politicians which Mr Peston seeks to deny.

The followng is take from Angela Eagle's wikipedia article:

"In April 2008 Eagle took part in a debate in Parliament on the UK economy in which the Liberal Democrats tabled a motion suggesting that the country was facing an 'extreme bubble in the housing market' and the 'risk of recession'. Eagle responded stating "Fortunately for all of us...that colourful and lurid fiction has no real bearing on the macro-economic reality." [2] In 2009 Jeremy Browne, who led the debate reflected on her comments, stating A year ago, Angela Eagles comments summed up the Governments delusional attitude. We had been warning for months that we faced a housing market collapse and a serious recession, but ministers did not want to hear it. Their failure to face up to reality left the country dangerously unprepared for the crisis that now confronts us."

So in summary, the most delusional, harmful attitudes which caused the credit crunch were held and expressed the most strongly by a female politician, not by any male. I.e. the exact opposite of what Mr Peston is suggesting.
