Boxing needs a Bolt 00:25am on 17 Sep 2009 WHat we need shut-of is American dis-information and American bias.

Its called the "WORLD" Heavyweight Championship.

Not the "New York Press Association Heavyweight Championship"

Truth be told, the world is not ready for White Heavyweights to rule. THe Americans are distinctly uncomfortable with the concept, and so the presence of these white fighters is passed off as a "weak division". Its baloney. Frank Baloney.

The Welterweight division is in a mess, and has been since the Flop of the Century "fight" between ODLH and Tito Trinidad. Since 1999, there has been NO consensus champion at 147. Yet, we are told, it is the heavyweight division that is in a mess. Nonsense.

Just follow the pattern I present: right now, here and now, Mosley is the man at 147. Mosley lost to Cotto, who lost to Margarito, who was done for cheating, who lost to Paul Williams, who lost to Quintana, who lost to Williams, who beat Margarito who lost to Shane Mosley who was involved in Balco who lost to Vernon Forrest who lost to Mayorga who lost to Oscar who lost to Mosley who....you get the picture. A merry-go-round of mediocrity at 147.
South Africa's white knight 5:35pm on 06 Aug 2009 Black preference permeates and percolates down through every aspect of South African society, from Affirmative Action aka "Black Economic Empowerment" to the quotas enforced on the South African National Rugby side. The very suggestion that some white-inspired vendetta is seeking to undermine the progress of "Black Soccer" is laughably incongruous with the economic and social reality in South Africa. I think it is offensive that the BBC has dared to air these views, and it would behove the South African FA more to concentrate on their own affairs {viz. the completion o the stadia for 2010, inter alia} rather than peddle this sort of nonsense.

Khan fighting a losing battle? 02:54am on 19 Jul 2009 Khan will always do well against smaller, non-puncher opponents. The minute the opponent has the single slightest whiff of verve or power about them, Khan is in trouble. Limond, Gomez, Prescott etc proved this.

Boxing is gone a little bit like the Mafia. In the Mafia, there used to be a code of sorts. Certain things got done a certain way. Boxing used to be the same. You had X number of fights as a contender, and you only fought for a title in certain circumstances. Only in todays dumbed-down and heavily diluted game can a man who was totally creamed in 60 seconds 2 fights ago suddenly get a "World" title shot vs a non-punching past-his-best fighter like Kotelnik.

Its excellent Matchmaking, but its not boxing as it used to be. Its a glorified version of the X-Factor. The risk is so minimised as to be non-existant.

The "Racism" thing is indeed a red herring, its thrown out there like a badly baited hook, to see who will bite.

Khan will lose to the next puncher he faces. Simple as. The man cannot physiologically ship heavy shots. If they keep throwing him in there against guys who are .50 in the KO dept then he stands every chance of racking up several title defences, but he is fooling nobody. He has deliberately departed the talent-laden lightweight division and is now in the utterly barren 140 division {Pac is at 147}

Let him fight Sugar Shane Mosley if he is so good.
Owen worth Man Utd gamble 8:20pm on 03 Jul 2009 Ferguson badly lost the mind game battle, forcing Tevez to feel he had no option but to leave after the fiasco at Wembley vs Everton. If Ferguson thinks he is starting Mind Games II with Owen, he can think again.

He still got crocked on a regular basis and score 3 goals fewer than Dirk Kuyt, who was played out of position most of the year. United have, thanks to Sir Alex "mind games" lost Tevez. Owen does not in any way shape or form constitute a replacement for Tevez. They have also failed to secure the signings of, inter alia, Benzema, Ribery, Sergio Aguero, David Villa, and just about anyone else they were linked with. Owen is first and foremost a shot in the dark.

Benitez continues defiant approach 1:12pm on 12 Jan 2009 Reina, Arbeloa, Carragher (Hyypia 82), Hobbs, Riise, Gerrard (Babel 71), Mascherano, Sissoko, Voronin, Torres (Kewell 61), Crouch.

Is the team that went to Reading last season, December 8th, for a 5pm KO against Relegation Fodder Reading.

It was the most positive lineup Benitez has ever had- a 4-3-3 with Torres, Voronin and Crouch up front.

Top three face crucial tests 3:48pm on 10 Jan 2009 The way I see it, Benitez has laid a trap, a calculated gamble with a massive upside and only a very small downside if the gamble doesnt come off.

The devil {ha ha} is in the detail. The details, distilled from the 4 minute "RANT"...{since when did Rants last 240 seconds involve low voice and a sheet of paper?} are as follows:-

1. Win lose or draw, the eyes will be on Fergusons comments after the Chelsea game. If they win, the question is how does it feel to be getting the referees decisions all the time. If he draws or loses, then the question will be "Fergie, how does it feel to be 9/10 off the pace"...and of course Fergie will blow his top and go mad. And Rafa will be winning the mind games.

2. Irrespective of whatever happens in the United vs Chelsea game, Rafa has set the trap for Mr Bennett and the Wigan game. All eyes will be on them again- and- think about it- it could be all eyes on them with a 10 point deficit and Fergie knowing he doesnt get to bully the ref this time.

Of course, Liverpool have to win today. Even if they dont, they know that Chelsea or United are dropping points tomorrow. So its all good.
