Clever Crows 10:10am on 04 Nov 2008 I live in Oxfordshire and the crows (or maybe they are rooks) collect Walnuts from an avenue of walnut trees about half a mile away and they are burying them in the recently ploughed fields near their roosting spot. They don't appear to be trying to break them open, they just fly down and bury them straightaway. Are they storing them for a later date or does burying them in the ground for a while make them easier to open?
Have you seen any Muntjacs? 08:46am on 01 Nov 2008 I live in Oxfordshire and have recently noticed the crows (or they may be rooks) burying walnuts. Is this unusual? They are burying them in freshly ploughed ground and the walnut trees are about a quarter of a mile away.
Have you seen any Muntjacs? 08:34am on 01 Nov 2008 Muntjacs are very common in Oxfordshire.
They live in the hedgerows around our village and sometimes come into the gardens.
