Have you seen any Muntjacs? 4:33pm on 30 Oct 2008 I often see muntjac when I'm walking my dog round Hertfordshire and Essex, they're not at all timid - quite the opposite. One jumped onto a path just a few feet ahead of me a couple of weeks ago, gave me and the dog a hard stare and then vanished into the adjacent woodland.

They will come really close to people and houses. There are many in and near Harlow (Essex), Broxbourne (Herts) and all along the River Stort and Lee Valley Park-lands. You can see them at all times of day.

They can do a fair bit of damage with those tusks; I try and keep out of their way to be honest and my dog wears a bell when he's off-lead to encourage them (and other wildlife) to move away.
