Leggless... 10:41am on 13 Oct 2009 How sad and short sighted the public are. I am not surprised that they will not appear. How can anyone become an MP(unless you are really wealthy) without a second homes allowance?

Legg has shown is true political allegiance. He has not asked Cameron to pay back the tens of thousands he has claimed but has punished Brown because he had the decency to pay a cleaner a living wage and pay all the proper NI contributions. Presumably Brown should clean his own flat and run the country in his spare time?
Becoming the story 10:39am on 09 Jul 2009 I do not think this has got anything to do with Labour being afraid of Cameron. He will expose himself as a shallow lightweight political operator,as he did in his leadership live debate with Davies.

Boris got it right on the radio this morning.It is about journalists having the judgement to decide when this sort of practice provides a story vital to the national interest, or if it is an abuse of the position they hold in our democracy.

The more they abuse this position then it will lead to tighter controls on them, to the detriment of democracy as a whole.

Do they have the self control to exercise those judgements wisely? I fear not.
Are British troops being put in an impossible position in Afghanistan? 10:24am on 09 Jul 2009 Clegg seems to pick up on any headline and run with it. He is lightweight and out of touch.Should every soldier be given a tank to withstand roadside bombs? Perhaps the Taliban would then use anti tank weapons the cheats.
The truth is in the terrain the army is operating in only certain vehicles can be used to keep up the required operational mobility of the troops, and war IS risky.The losses sustained have in no way impaired the operation.
While understanding the devastation that each family must feel at each loss, one must remember they did join voluntarily.
The job they do is vital,which Clegg seemed to agree with.His thoughts were very confused and frankly juvenile.
God help us if he ever had a share of power.

MJ certainly was not a genius. He was a pop singer who sang rather lightweight songs very ably.The music is not deep but it is brilliant background music.

Loads of people are better singers than MJ, and of course his own written output is meagre.

So why all the fuss.

Tell Nicky that people like Mozart or Sinatra deserve the title of genius.
Should Gordon Brown go? 11:12am on 05 Jun 2009 We do not need a general Election.many voters would vote based on hysteria and a knee jerk reaction.

I remember well being on the Finance committee of a very successful Comprehensive school during the Tory years.The school, and thousands like it, was almost forced into three day weeks because of the relentless cuts.We were not even able to make routine repairs.

When Labour was elected the difference was almost immediate.

Remember all ye ordinary people of Britain that when Tories say "we will give people more choice" that means "if you want it you will have to pay for it".

Perhaps Gordon should go, but Cameron or Clegg--what a sick joke to play on this wonderful country.
Has Gordon Brown lost his authority? 12:00pm on 03 Jun 2009 Before we consign Brown to history, just ask yourselves where we would all be if Cameron had had his way and not baled out Northern Rock.It would have resulted in a global banking collapse.

The western world would have resembled the third world.

I am not sure Brown has lost his authority, but I am glad he was there when we needed novel and innovative ideas to help avert a catastrophic collapse of the economic system. I did not hear of the opposition shouting for it before he did it, frankly Cameron is lightweight.Remember the mauling David Davies gave him in the live debate they had? Many Tory activists voted for him just because he was Blair like.
Starting from scratch.... 10:47am on 20 May 2009 Politicians get as much stick as England football managers at the moment. It seems the football team picked up when an Italian was put in charge.Perhaps we should head hunt Berlusconi........or then again perhaps not.

He seems to me to jump on any media bandwagon on a daily basis.

Ask yourself the question of where we and the world economy be if the Government had listened to him and Osborne, and refused to bale out the banks.
British politics isn't really corrupt, is it? 3:02pm on 18 May 2009 I listened to Speaker Martin's previous statement in which he made it clear that he felt that the practices of some MP's were out of order and that the whole house needed to change it's ways. Since then he has been pilloried by the mob.
He made it clear that the police were called in because the personal data of not just MP's but staff etc. were stolen.The same hysterical mob were venting fury on Government depts and some big corperations not so long ago for losing the personal data of ordinary folk.But presumably it's OK to put the personal data of ordinary Commons staff up for auction to the highest bidder.

Was I corrupt as a Teacher to claim tax payers money for travelling expenses incurred by me in pursuit of my job.I was acting within the rules, but presumably if The Daily Telegraph or some such decides with the help of the mob that in retrospect the expenses system is wasteful then they may want all teachers prosecuted too.

I will only say that with a household income in excess of an MP's salary,I would not be able to afford to run a second home in London or anywhere else in order to do a proper job for my constituents if I were an MP.

Hmm perhaps only the super rich should be MP's or perhaps they should be paid a decent salary.But then the media and the mob always jump up and down like crazy whenever the topic of increasing MP's salaries is broached.
The "court of public opinion" seems to want it both ways and refuses to look realistically at the problem.
Double delight 11:39am on 13 May 2009 I have to agree with some comments above that it is almost impossible to get a text or email read out if it does not suit the purpose of the angle the station is trying to push on a particular day.

It is a dangerous and very antidemocratic thing to select texts and emails which portray one view and then keep banging on about the listeners views when asking questions of Ministers etc when I suspect they are not fully representative.

eg Yesterday after about the 64th time Nicky and Shelagh congratulated themselves on their Sony I texted in that "Nicky Campbell is on air, the ego has landed"

Not a chance. All I heard were texts of congratulations.
