Soft imperalism 05:23am on 03 Nov 2008 It's not American imperialism - it's rich people in America and their overseas rich people allies who pull the levers of the power this country possesses. History is written by rich people sending armies to fight, applying pressure here and applying it there, but ascribing any of it to nations is missing the point. The world is run by aristocracies engaged in a giant conspiracy to keep hold of what they have and adding to it if possible. It's the War of the Mafias. It's how the human monkey is made.
