Then your opinion is irrelevant as CO2 is indisputably both of these things. And even if it weren't, surely it's a good thing to invest in renewable energy now because, pollutant or not, our fossil fuel supplies will run out one day.

Religious fundamentalism (from any religion) is something I'd rather not have in this society. But then religion is something I'd rather not have in our society - it only serves to divide people and, frankly, in the 21st century we should be well past believing in fairy stories.

Speak for yourself. Some of 'us Brits' couldn't care less that the pretender in Number 10 is getting the cold shoulder from the US. Some of us are sick of hearing about the 'special relationship' (which, by the way, seems increasingly one way as far as concessions are concerned).

The way the previous PM sucked up to the US was sad. It was like trying to be mates with the school bully in order that he might, in return, allow you to carry his books.

Fascists or not they are a legitimate political party (in as much as they are no illegal) and for the BBC to not allow them to appear would be against its charter of impartiality. Like it or not that's a fact.

And, for what it's worth, this IS about free speech. You can't on the one hand agree with freedom of speech and then on the other decide (arbitrarily) that certain groups can't have it because their views are either different to your own or undesirable. Either you support free speech or you do not, and if you do not doesn't that also make you a little bit fascist?

They may be unpleasant, bigotted and present views that are contrary to your (and my) own, but they ARE a legitimate organisation who, like it or not, represent the views of at least a small minority of this country.

Besides, I don't want to get to a stage where someone else is deciding what I can and can't hear. I'm old enough and ugly enough to decide for myself that someone's views are not something I will subscribe to nor want to hear any more. It's within my rights, if I feel so inclined, to change the channel when the BNP come on or, equally, to turn the volume up and have a good chuckle at the rubbish they spout.

I'm in favour of the BNP appearing on TV. Firstly they are now an elected member of the European Parliament, and secondly it means those of us who are against fascism, racism and everything the BNP stands for can ridicule their views publicly and debate with them in a way that shows their narrow minded views up for what they are.

It's when we try to repress organisations like the BNP that they become more dangerous. In the open we can expose them and hopefully turn people who voted for them on a misunderstanding away from them.

Apart from those women who racked up huge credit card debts while the going was seemingly good and who (as much as the men) bought to let with mortgages they can no longer afford. And so on.

If you look away from the very top, you'll find women do indeed share a portion of the blame.

Ahhh, well if we're going to be pedantic then 2000 is actually the last year of the last millenium, not the first year of this millenium.

The first millenium started on year 1 (there was no year 0), the second started on 1001 and the third on 2001.

Bruising day of punch and counter-punch 10:54am on 09 Jul 2009 Totally agree with post 19 - surely Boycott has had his day? He seems to exist purely to tell us how great he is, how differently he would have done things, or just to criticise players. The man's a relic. I wince every time I hear him come on the air.

But how equally is that pot divided up?

An English person who pays tax is an "English taxpayer". I don't think the concept is that tricky. What Mathna, and I, object to is that Scottish and Welsh MPs can vote on issues that purely affect England but, due to devolution, English MPs (quite rightly) cannot vote on issues that purely affect Scotland or Wales as those issues are dealt with at the Welsh Assembly / Scottish Parliament level.

If we're all paying into the same pot, who's paying for (amongst other things) free prescriptions in Wales? Not the Welsh, that's for sure. Time for England to get a parliament and independence and stop supporting Wales and Scotland. Let's see how well you do on your own.

If you'd bothered to read the posts you'll see there are numerous people questioning team selection, drive, ambition, quality and arrogance. There are also some (fewer) critisising the format itself.

It strikes me that you're one of those people who just likes to post to critisise whatever anybody else says, whether they've actually said it or not.
