You are the most chopsy fool on here, and by even attempting to equate Michaelangelo's works with that of a mind numbing wordsmith, such as the guy you are praising, is totally ludicrous.

I am not in the slightest interested in pease pudding poetry, al la the so called modernists, nor the so called art of the so called modern artist. Nor did I make any issue of that guy's writings re the NHS or whatever else it is that your obvioulsy slewed mind thinks up.

I also cannot abide the perpetual references to religion, which itself is nothing more than fairy tales and myths born out of the fear of death, and oblivion, and that is all that is contained in these sort of works.

Painting is visual, and, to all intents and purposes, static, 'a picture paints a thousand words', but they are words of pure artistic essence, irrespective of their subject matter, not the mumblings of some clown with a religious agenda to push.

I would rather stand in front of a Michaelangelo, or any of the great classical artworks, for a day, than sit listening to such tripe you are promoting, for as long as 30 seconds.

In fact, in about three weeks time, I will be doing just that, as I wander through the Louvre in Paris.

You are possibly correct, however, when properly adjusted figures are looked into, and the obvious bias in telephone polls taken on behalf of the Assembly/WAG,disregarded, the numbers don't really stack up to an overwhelming majority.

Still the low end of what might be achieved if everyone got nice bribes...say for example... no council tax for a year or the removal of road tax and a few other tax grabs out of the wallet.

What AM I doing?....... giving the Bay of Pigs ideas that may work in it's favour.

For two reasons, 1: I am an atheist and cannot abide any sort of religious claptrap, be it coming from the pulpit, the TV or from affectacuous so called poets.

2: please explain to me what the so called poem you have cast onto this page actually means in reference to the life of anyone at all,. especially anyone whose problems lie in meeting his monthly mortgage payments or suffering from a terminal illness, or laying himself across the rail tracks to end it all because he has had it up to here with life generally,

Oh! and another...3: it's a load of disjointed bad English, and therefore total crap.

If this is the way to conduct a government for Wales, then roll on the day we get a chnace to rollit back to where it came from, the funny farm minds of the Plaid manics.

I am ever so pleased this came up, maybe we can now build on it, with the target being to take the whole sorry mess down and out of our lives for good.

After all, who would want to be ruled by a bunch of non compliants such as we have in the Bay at present?
Can't even get their own business sorted, but insist on sorting ours out.

I just love those crappy American films of the sixties, gaudy in colour rendition, full of 'flower children',(bloody hippies) and forever spouting the same sort of hardly comprehensible jabber they called 'poetry' as your man above. At least they were taking the piddle out of the cognoscenti.

Not that the current, and recent, poet laureates have much going for them either.

The same thing with the so called 'art' of unmade beds, and piles of bricks.

Affectation, pure and simple, my elan when Saatchi's 'warehouse' full of the rubbish went up in flames, was a joy to behold.

Today I was given the exact boundary between Caerphilly, and BG, at Sofrydd, it is excatly 150 metres, (nearly 500 feet) towards BG from the Hafodryyns Hotel.

That makes for one correct for me.

If that is what you call poetry, then my aunt is a mongolian Moon baby.

It is affectation by those who come to this sort of stuff, calling it 'poetry' that gives these literati wasters, the idea their outpouring is of value, to the extent they become so far up their own rears they really begin to believe they are great writers.

Tennyson, Keats, et al, must be spinning in their graves at the thought that such rubbish writing is being plauded.

By the time the Romans came to Britain, or whatever it was called at the time, the Celts had all but disappeared, Boudicca, was a member of the Iceni, a post Celtic tribe, and her tribe was nothing but war-makers, so the records show. Effectively as I said before, by the time Rome took precedence in Britain, there were no Celts left, some residuals in the gene pool maybe, but true Celts, none at all.

It is amazing what integrations over five hundred years can do to the 'purity ' of a group. Look at Brazil, a country with a high proportion of black, Hispanic, and native Indian stock, they are very likely to become the first coffee coloured race, separate and distinct from their component ethnic groupings.

So, with that in mind, look at the same for Wales, maybe not so much 'ethnic' intermixing, few of coloured background, but certainly mixing of various gene pools, that has resulted in the mixed 'racial' stock we are today.

What language the ancients spoke, along with all the other warrior tribes which comprised Britain at the time, was a jumble of languages, much as both Cymraeg and English are today. There is nothing at all pure about any of the languages spoken in Britain over the last few hundred years. Even our current languages are subject to evolution, by adoption, adaptation, and invention. That includes Cymraeg too.,

The record gives the Celts as arriving on these islands some 500 or so years BC, and remnants, no doubt the Iceni amongst them, lasting until about 50 AD.

Now, considering that Wales has never been a joined up nation, and what language it claims for itself is the raggy end of what the Celts, and all their subscription tribes left behind, is it any wonder that we fail to accept the claims made for both the territory and the language.

Accepted is the fact the language 'developed' over the three hundred years since England absorbed the region,from which time it is doubtful Cymraeg altered much, (apart form absorbing exotic words and phrases). and became the dominant world force it became, but in truth, those who claim Celtic background for it, are whistling in the wind.

No one really knows what the Celts spoke, or even if they had a written language, to any degree of sophistication. So get your heads around the truth you latter day toy town Celts, or Kelts, what you have going for you is nothing more than a bastardised language, in every respect just as is English.

The difference being, whereas your Celtic, or Keltic, language is almost parochial, in global terms, English, for many reasons, has become internationally recognised as THE universal means of communication in virtually all walks of life. Technological, scientific, commercial, entertainment, literature, and in any other field you care to mention.

That is NOT to say there is no room for Cymraeg, of course there is, but the one certain way to kill it stone dead, is to enforce it onto an unwilling population. One soon gets sick of bread and jam for lunch every day.
It is now on the slippery slope to extinction, and with the best will in the world, the more it is forced the more rapidly it will cease to be of relevance, and irrelevant things, as with old bangers, soon fetch up in the trashcan of history.
Far better to let the enthusiasts take care of it, as with that old well cared for, beloved, old favourite, that sat in the garage for years seemingly destined for the scrapyard, until rescued by those enthusiastic about old marques, who come along, to patiently restore it to it's former glory..

Finally, I have to say, I am doubtful that there were any 'natives' of these islands pre ice age, (certainly none that spoke in Celtic tongues) that is estimated to have covered some forty to sixty thousand years, it could have been rather longer in fact, and no matter where research has poked it's nose, there is hardly any evidence of human life further north than mid France as far back as that in time. If then even.

The Celtic peoples cannot be accurately traced back much beyond 1000 BC. no matter where you look to find them.

To complete the matter of genetic strain evidence. According to what recorded evidence there is, the remnant 'Celtic' tribes found in Britain when the Romans came face to face with them, were totally different peoples to what is considered to be the typical Welsh peoples of today.

We are more likely to be of Silurian stock base.

Roman recordists, entered the description of the Welsh, as short, stocky, dark people, nothing at all like the Celtic remnants they had encountered across the length and breadth of northern Europe.
Reputedly. accvording to records of the time, tallish, fair hairedtending to the red, with blue eyes.

Not many of those types to be seen, even today in Wales, especially in the areas where one would expect to find them, in the remoter regions that have only recently 'opened' up to the rest of the British peoples.
