Lingering virus 8:16pm on 21 Oct 2009 Watched PMQs today. Thought it really sad that Lindsay Roy,the once respected head teacher of Kirkcaldy HS, but now MP for Glenrothes, had sunk so low as to be asking a planted question about swine flu for GB to claim that "we are ahead of the world" in dealing with it.
Only problem was that Roy fluffed his lines by first of all congratulating NHS Fife---that would be NHS Fife working with the Scottish Government?

Government unlikely to fall - yet 2:15pm on 24 Aug 2009 Someone from the SNP Govt should read out a list of those agreeing with the decision ie
Henry MacLeish, Tam Dalyell, Lord Fraser, the Church of Scotland, Archbishop Conti,etc,etc, and then read out another list ie
Richard Baker, Tavish Scott, Ian Gray, Bill Aitken, laugh out loud and sit down.
I hope that all those "great and good" who agree, write letters to the Press on the subject. Watch the Labour RC MSPs in particular climb down.

The gist was that if vaccinations in Scotland will cost £100 million, and if England makes the same medical decision, then that will cost £1 billion pounds in England--to be taken from this year's English NHS budget! I don't think so.....
A delicate quadrille 8:38pm on 23 Jun 2009 Coming out of retirement because I'm absolutely livid about Murphy and the lack of any challenge to his statement by Taylor and the rest of the Labour media in Scotland.
Let's make an assumption that England makes the same medical decision as Scotland, Wales and NI, and decides to vaccinate all of the people in England.
If 5 million people in Scotland will cost £100 million, then 50 million plus in England will cost £1 billion plus. So Brown is going to tell his Health Secretary to take the money out of the existing English NHS budget. That will be shining bright! There will be pauchling from the UK contingency fund which will not be revealed until 30 years from now, and Scotland will struggle to find the money and Labour MSPs and MPS will rage about SNP cuts to the NHS and elsewhere.
Voters in Glasgow North East PLEASE PLEASE do not vote Labour in the by-elction--losing the seat is the only thing that they might understand.
The big freeze 11:45am on 12 Feb 2009 Blearily woke up this morning, turned on the radio and was blasted fully awake by someone shouting "Betrayal" in my ear. Turned out to be BBC Scotland up to their old tricks, quoting a Labour MSP on LIT.
Heard then that Glenn Cambell was one of the co-presenters today (strange, he's not normally on in the morning, but realised the anti-SNP attack dog had been hauled in specially for the occasion).
Thought Swinney handled him well,
but came to the conclusion which others have already that I'm not prepared to listen to this bias AND PAY FOR IT.
I'm now "considering my position" regarding the licence fee.
My disgust is also directed at this blog where the (Unionist Arabist Liberal) Brian throws out tit-bits for us to snap over, but never gives anything in return which would criticise the cosy, all pals together, media cartel which operates in Scotland.
Farewell--keep up the good fight those who want balanced reporting in the Scottish Media.

I've heard some hyperbole in my time but Ian Gray surely took the biscuit on reporting Scotland tonight--"SNP are in meltdown".
So despite being against LIT but with not a scoobie about a replacement for Council Tax, he wanted the SNP Govt to continue to work up proposals and bring them before Parliament so that Labour, Cons and wee greetin'-face could reject them?
No prizes for guessing his reaction in such a scenario--"SNP are in meltdown"
Look forward to Salmond sorting him and Kerr out at FMQs tomorrow...
The Golden Rule 7:40pm on 09 Feb 2009 Re various posts about Brian's lack of interaction.
It seems to me that Brian sets the ball rolling, gets all these wonderful shades of opinion BUT GIVES NOTHING BACK.
I'm still waiting for an answer to a question I put to him some time ago--- "Why do you always have pro-unionist 'commentators'(like Mcleod,Cochrane, Barnes etc) to pronounce on what's happened at FMQs, and do you choose them or are they foisted upon you by the BBC hierarchy?"
Perfectly reasonable question, but answer was there none (as Brian would say).
