How damaging is illegal file-sharing? 02:35am on 12 May 2009 Its not the downloading of illegal files that makes peer-to-peer so scary to the big distributors, its the fact that the big distributors are scared senseless that their sown-up distribution network could be threatened and people could launch an effective career without having to depend upon them. Their jobs are threatened as peer-to-peer has the potential to end their carefully managed monopoly, and has little to nothing to do with illegal file sharing.
Speaker's anger 6:55pm on 11 May 2009 Honestly, the Speaker should realise the honourable thing to do is to now stand down, is record is not above repute, rather it is tarnished beyond repair.
Suggest a story or an opinion poll question 9:03pm on 21 Apr 2009 I would like to here more about the recent case of Klaus Matzka, the Austrian tourist who was forced to wipe his holiday snaps of London by the police. It seems to me it neatly ties in to stories about surveillance cameras being apparently everywhere, google photographing the world and the police being held to account by digital cameras.
Thursday's Glass Box. 10:58pm on 16 Apr 2009 Nice to see Eddie Mair challenging someone who told the ever repeated lie that they could not comment on a specific case. If guests are not actually prepared to comment on the topic being discussed, why are they given any airtime?
Matching jobs to the jobless 04:55am on 11 Mar 2009 I think it certainly helps to highlight just how shockingly bad our public transport system is. I know in the past I have had people apply to work for me only to discover it was unrealistic for them to use Public Transport as it just did not run early enough to get to the place of work, while if they where to keep a car they would need a higher wage to maintain it.

It is just one of a whole plethora of obstacles that stop people working which no-one seems willing to spend money on to overcome, despite being willing to waste millions on trivialities.
Driving to a greener future 11:47pm on 20 Dec 2008 Hybrids are the classic example of why targets need to be better thought out, There is no point having cars that create less CO2 when actually building them is environmentally disastrous. Everybody who is sat in one of these abominations has been conned into not only massively damaging the environment, but paying through the nose for it to boot.
Young and unemployed 06:38am on 20 Dec 2008 The problem with a lot of the jobs you see advertised in MacDonalds and the like is there always part-time, which means under the minimum wage that they pay, you actually simply cannot live off of them.
On top of that, they demand you stay on standby even when not being paid, so you cannot do two jobs at once or even combine them with an academic course.
There basically designed as jobs for kids living at home and supported by their parents.

Where the UK has gone wrong is that a Job, no mater how basic, used to be aspirational as it gained you respect and security for the rest of your life. All introducing a flexible workforce has done is erode another the moral values that once underpinned our society.
Wars in numbers 00:53am on 18 Dec 2008 Due to the fact it actual fails to be a 'war' in any conventional sense, and is more a police action hamstrung by local corruption. Afghanistan has a very good chance of devolving into an unpopular, seemingly unwinnable, 'Vietnam' style conflict if we stay there. It is therefore inconceivable that we have any intention of staying for the long haul.
