What now for India and England? 07:28am on 01 Dec 2008 As a Mumbaikar,I don't agree with Mihir at all.Mumbai is not a safe place for normal citizens leave aside famous cricketers who'll prove to be juicy targets for the terrorists.Indian ruling establishment(of which Mr Pawar, the BCCI chief is very much a part) is insensitive towards the security of its citizens and English team's team's return has only highlighted this.Kudos to them!Cricket is not a priority, safety surely is.There should be a waiting period of 1 year and any team should visit India(only if the Indian government is able to prevent such a attack for this period).
Australia outdone by a superior side 1:46pm on 12 Nov 2008 India did nothing unthinkable.They could have beaten Australia in Australia early this year but for some ridiculous umpiring in the Sydney test. Moreover, the Aussies lost in their stronghold of Perth marking the ineffectiveness of their pace attack in the absence of McGrath.On a separate note, I think people here rate the poms quite highly.I guess KP or no KP,they'll still lose to this Aussie side.and India needs to win tests consistently for another year before they can lay claim to No 1 title.
India reverse roles with Test win over Australia 07:04am on 11 Nov 2008 To put things in perspective, its a great win on sporting pitches(as against the mud pits of 1998 when Azhar's team won the series against the Aussies) and was a result of complete team effort(as against 2001 when just Laxman,Dravid,Harbhajan and Sachin played a vital role).Although India is far from no.1(they just lost in Lanka,remember?) The Aussies would be doing their cricket a great disservice if they put down the loss to subcontinental pitches(they lost to India in perth too this year,did'nt they?),toss(India lost the toss in Sydney and Melbourne,the matches Aussies won,too).Best of luck to both teams for next time they meet to grab the BG trophy!!
But first and foremost, the cricket boards and ICC need to chalk out a plan to resuscitate test cricket.
The end of a cricketing era 11:41am on 22 Oct 2008 "this is only Australia's second test defeat since the 2005 Ashes" -- wake up dude.being a cricket writer you should know that Australia lost the Perth test in January this year.
