Thank you so much, it is the nature of it that keeps replaying in my head. I know you should not talk of such issues on here but my dad fell down the stairs and broke his neck and bled into the brain, at least thats what the police think. If only I had been there I could have prevented it. Now I am truely on my own.

If you are so against private education should we have thrown Blair out of office for spouting Labour values and having a privileged education. Should we now throw out Brown, Harman and particularly Balls who went to a private school in Nottingham whose current fees are around three thousand five hundred pounds per term. We cannot have this kind of hypocrisy either there is no one in the Labour cabinet who has had private education, if this is what Labours class war is based on, or they just stop saying these sort of things.

I mean, I do not really want to throw Brown, Balls and Harman out, because they are doing such a good job for the opposition parties. However, you know, based on class politics they should really resign.

Why's Gordon smiling? 08:27am on 04 Dec 2009 It is more the atmosphere in the Country which has helped Labour to believe a class war such as in the 70s is possible. In a recession, especially of the nature we have at the moment, it is easy for Labour to claim they will punish those of wealth based on their claim that rich bankers etc have brought the Country down. If Labour can stir up a class war it will enable them to gloss over their part in the recession. It will also allow them to have someone to blame for after 12 years in Government, poverty has increased, in spite of record amounts that have been spent. In other words Labour need a scapegoat for their failures. Class is a very useful tool for this.

What should be remembered is that both Brown and Blair have come from backgrounds that were privileged. Brown himself is part of Scotlands elite. Perhaps Brown is hoping that the English are ignorant of Scottish society. Blair was wise enough to not use class because he saw the potential for it to backfire. Brown is an old dinosaur who uses old and tried methods of the politics of envy, despite the obvious hypocrisy of his position.

If all the rich are taxed and investors see nothing in Labours policies that lay the foundations for a stable Country to do business in, they will leave the Britain. This in turn will see working class people out of work and the tax take drop and Britain returned to the old days of nothing to offer in a Global economy.

The Conservatives should not run away from this issue of class, they have a much more talented team than Labour. They need to make the case that it is the right person for the job that counts and that no one can help their background. The Conservatives should say it is public service that they offer to the people of Britain, not failure such as Labour have given for over 12 years. Furthermore it would be easy for the Conservatives to point the finger at many in the Labour party who have merely come to politics to feather their own nest. Blair, Mandelson, Speaker Martin, Balls etc. The Conservatives could then prove to the electorate that over Labour years, it is them that have become close to rich bankers and celebrities. They could paint Brown as the old man of politics whose ideas have no place in the modern World, which they do not.

Eaton may well have produced gentlemen, however, the Conservatives will have to learn to play just as dirty as the Labour Party to win this election.

Thats a a lovely story. Nearly as good as 'no more boom and bust' 'It started in America' and we are leading the World. None of which are true.

I thought that you would understand the implication of both comments.

For clarity, I stated that "The banking crisis was fuelled by personal debt". Fact.

However, if no one borrows, banks cannot lend and hence there would be no personal debt!

Ironic is it not?

I agree with you on immigration as you know.

How perceptive you are. I think it will be a long time before I can smile again, let alone put my all into the blog.

I am having rather a bad time at the moment, my father died and as you know he has been my only parent since I was very young. It was an accident and therefore unexpected. I had not seen him for a very long time working where I do. The pain at the moment is just too much to bear.

I am still waiting for you to provide me with where in my post I say I want to suppress minorities and close the borders as you have claimed. Or are we to accept you were not telling the truth.
