Restoring science to its rightful place 8:43pm on 23 Jan 2009 Why did you splice together two separate pieces of this historic speech - I find this staggering.

Don't think that just because you believe you're doing 'the Lord's work' that you can do this and get away with it.

I love the BBC, but what you're doing just plays into the hands of those who would like to see it destroyed.

This is appalling and is one of the first things you learn not to do on your first day at journalism school.

And you wonder why the public are increasingly sceptical about this whole silly theory.

You do science a great disservice.
Winter of discontent 2:57pm on 03 Dec 2008 I think the economy will start to pick up around this time next year - thanks, in no small measure to the actions of GB and AD over the past month or so - and then will really take off in the latter part of 2010.

I know it's tough for retailers at present, but then, that's the economy for you - a downturn was always inevitable, and the sun did shine for a remarkably long time.

Still, I think that the government's hadnling of the crisis, the steps it's taken and the banking blueprint being adopted by other countires is a sure sign of the fiscal intelligence and strength of Brown and Darling.

Credit where it's due: Well done them.
Now there are runs on countries 3:37pm on 23 Oct 2008 I don't know what is more entertaining about Peston's posts, his sometimes florid turn-of-phrase, or the end-of-the-world-I told-you-so whackoes and nutjobs that flock onto the comment zone talking about Mayan calendars, ancient Irish monks, stocking up on tinned food and Mad Max films.

Puh-lease.

People are losing their jobs and their homes, and this is horrendous - but it is NOT the end of the world as we know it.

And there will be an economic recovery.
Finding a climate for growth 4:15pm on 16 Oct 2008 The electorate will never, ever accept frozen or falling living standards to pay for a programme of social & financial reorganisation based on a theory which is continuing to look more threadbare by the day.

The theory that emissions of man-made CO2 is causing the world the warm dnagerously, and will lead to catastrophe is so insane, so lacking in any common sense or humility, that it is staggering otherwise intelligent people are prepared to give it succour.

I blame the decline of organised religion, among other factors.

And I note the 'commitment' to cutting emissions by 2050. We'll see how it all pans out in five years, shall we?

Somehow, I think these may be revised along with some of the central tenets of this utterly ridiculous theory which journalists and politicians think ordinary people are concerned about as much as they are.

They aren't. And when it starts to hit their already crippling budgets, then things will really get interesting.
