We all get it - you've read Das Kapital. Fabulous, but come on. Do you honestly believe that PFI and the rush for private sector involvement in state projects and off-balance sheet financing (a bit hello to Hornby, HBOS and more murky backgrounds to the Lloyds fiasco) was purely to prop up the ailing private sector?

I broke my watch yesterday, the hands don't move at all. That said, it's still right twice a day, which I suspect is rather better than Sir Victor's average.

As for the banking system. We've known for a while now Bobby that it's heads they win, tails we lose. We know the British aren't going to revolt over this issue, or the many others that would have the streets of our European neighbour Capitals burning. Perhaps you should move onto something that isn't going to keep riling the good people who still read this stuff.

I am always a bit cautious to believe people who say that we'll learn from this. I'd like to think that we might, but we won't.
We lurch heedlessly from extreme to extreme - credit to debt to credit, islotation to globalisation and back again.
What's happening now has happened time and again, albeit different assets, bubbles, markets, paradigms or problems,... but always one constant - manipulative elite minorities fattening on the back of the majority and then cashing in their chips as as the game unravels. They'll be back, and we'll be screwed again
