What Mervyn didn't say 09:56am on 22 Oct 2008 "net wholesale funding of our banks went from zero in 2001 to £625bn by the end of 2007" - quite stunning, i had no idea that it was like that, thanks for this useful bit of info. if a company funded its business activities purely from loans & credit and not from cashflow or assets, it would rightly be expected to go to the wall sharpish. never was that old dictum more true: if you owe the bank a thousand pounds, it's your problem, but if you owe the bank a million pounds, it's the bank's problem. nice one!
Rothschild "won't back down" 11:45pm on 21 Oct 2008 thank you robert for this amusing tale of politicians, bankers and oligarchs having a right old girlfight over a lousy £50,000 - i hope this one will run and run as it's a far more attractive ensemble than those boring credit crunchers!
World back from brink 09:49am on 14 Oct 2008 back from the brink? looks more like a dead cat bounce to me, but i hope i'm mistaken. nevertheless, i'll wait a couple of days or so until the rise in the market slows down, then flog off all my shares and dash for cash sharpish, because the illiquidity in the economy is not going to dissipate anytime soon. this government has a distinguished 11-year track record of throwing billions around like confetti with minimal results and a proven inability to micro- or process-manage, so i don't think that things will be much different this time around, no matter who the recipient of the cash is.

and as for the bilderberg group, yes, like the illuminati, they wait for us in the forest and tap on our windows at night .....
