Those are pretty much my thoughts exactly. Some people won't cheat and that's fine; some people compulsively cheat and some people make mistakes. I can understand all of these situations; I don't agree with them all, but I understand they do happen. What I don't understand is why people like Mark Sanford and Larry Craig think they can keep their shenanigans under wraps in the day and age when I can find out that Michael Jackson died the second it happened by text message. Let me clarify, these men have a grossly underestimated technology and word of mouth; also how advances in the past few years can help tarnish a dirt-bags reputation in literally the length of time it takes to make some sappy speech on TV after we find out you went to Argentina and not hiking (yes it was a run on sentence). Another thing, after all of the media attention he drew to himself about not taking the stimulus and he going to do this and expect to get away with it. If this was my governor, no one would care. He has made himself a national figure and a household name, what a buffoon. P.S. according to Fox news he's a (D) or a democrat. Are they even a news network anymore, or ever? What is the deal over there? If ANYONE can explain to me why people take Fox seriously besides the fact that those people might be delusional... please explain. Fox is like the TMZ of news except... TMZ get's it right. I mean my, God Karl Rove is a Fox News Correspondent, he is irrelevant and he is an idiot.
Republicans' lack of leaders 6:37pm on 25 Jun 2009 Sanford made an idiotic mistake as many politicians have before him but, in a way I feel bad for him. If its true he used tax dollars to pay for the trips that is inexcusable. I just can't believe these guys (and I'm pretty sure they have all been men) just don't use their heads at all. I am sure Sanford's job is extremely exhausting much of which he caused by trying to butt heads with everyone around him. I am sure his job is extremely stressful; stress can lead people to seek and do things they wouldn't normally do. It was stupid, he has children and he was being extremely selfish; just as he was when he tried to refuse the stimulus cash. Pretty soon, there won't be any republicans left and I think I will be okay with that. The republicans better get it together and quick. Megan McCain was right, it's going to come down to old vs. new ideas. The reason these republicans are dropping like flies is because they tote family values then don't even bother to live they way they dictate the rest of us should live. The republicans need a new person who is a realist and they need to stop living in this fantasy land in which they pretend every aspect of their life is perfect.
Big week for healthcare 7:28pm on 24 Jun 2009 I have written both senators about how important it is to people like me and many others who are unisured, those who are underinsured and even those who are okay with their insurance. I used to have insurance, and I was okay with it but; things happen and I lost my coverage. If we cannot pass health-care bill that will actually help the millions in this country who deserve health-care (this is the richest country in the world!) then I WILL lose all faith in my government. I am so tired of big companies and lobbyists being in bed with my government.

You are 110% correct. Why has it been legal to deny people for ridiculous reasons? If everyone is not covered than we haven't fixed the underlying main issue which is all, of the people who are insured paying for those who aren't that use the E.R. as a doctors office. We cannot bring costs down effectively is there are people who are uninsured, it's just not logical.
Big week for healthcare 7:15pm on 24 Jun 2009 I cannot believe that the democrats are trying to pass a plan that still leaves about 30 million people uninsured. I'm sure I would still one one of those lucky folks who was still uninsured just as I am now and have been for awhile. If that many people are going to be uninsured than the plan needs to go back to the drawing board. It is important to get health care and I think especially a public option but, it is also important to get it right. How in the world can we save on costs if we still have so many uninsured with this plan? I suspect these people will still by law have the right to be helped regardless of their income or whether or not they have insurance which is MUCH of the reason our health care system is so ridiculously flawed and so many people are going broke due to hospitial bills they just can't pay. Why have I been paying for seniors and those with low income to have health care when I cannot afford it for myself?

This statement hits the nail on the head. This is why they are going down. I agree with all of your observations and those about the UAW. They weren't completely guilt free but, in my mind; it all boils down to the management. At the end of the day, they just didn't get it. I caught the tail end of something on NPR the other day saying that Chrysler was doing fine until they merged with Daimler and tried to be global instead of based in America and that's when Chrysler started to unravel. It was interesting. You would think if you had a business model that worked for many years and made you money you would stick with it. If you thought that, you would be wrong apparently.

The job of the union is to lookout for the people paying them, their members. The job of the management is to lookout for the companys bottom line. It's as simple as that. These GM execs weren't doing their job and it's not the union's fault. It's their fault the union is their in the first place. The execs need to look in the mirror. They don't have any idea what the people of America want anymore. GM is irrelevant and they don't know what to do about it; which is the very reason they are in such a large pickle.

The UAW is not the reason GM is in bad shape. It's the management. The management signed those contracts every. single. time. The management had 8 brands or however many they had; GM couldnt afford all of these brands. The management made a crappy product that is known for literally falling apart from the inside out because of their ineffectiveness to actually deal with the union and cost overruns. On this topic of dumbing down language in bills, this could be a good thing. But, I suspect that lobbyists will just find another way to redefine us dumb people words that will again confuse us. You know like what the meaning of is...is.
100 days in 100 words 05:58am on 30 Apr 2009 It's about time someone take on the Catholic church. Whether he can "win" or not isn't the point. Speaking up is the point when taking on the church. Overall I'm pretty proud of Obama. A second bank bailout does not make me happy at all, just like the first one didn't make me happy. I am a realist and I do understand our problems can't be healed in one day, one term, or even years to come. If Obama actually starts health care reform and gets something, something anything at all (almost) accomplished... I will be very happy. It may not be what we all want but, it would be a start.
Dissenting voices on torture covered up? 06:25am on 23 Apr 2009 Why is Dick Cheney still talking or relevant? I guess he is not, maybe he is relevant to Fox News. Basically, as a nation; we need to try to not be hypocrites. We either torture or we don't. We cannot say we don't torture and then do it anyway.(I don't believe in torture but the point is, if we are so busy telling every other country what to do, we should listen to our own advise). Everyone knew that the Bush admin was up to no good, now here's solid proof. So shut up Sean Hannity.
