Express exit 11:35am on 02 Jul 2009 The main problem with transport in this country is that there is no real strategy for the future implementation of new(old) technology and combining rail, air and road routes to suit passenger & freight needs. All we see are contracts set to deliver massive profits to the Government coffers and whatever Group who chooses to gamble with public transport delivery. Reality plays little part in all of this; we are in a crisis situation which we are in no position to work our way out of it. We no longer have sufficient manufacturing in this country and the only successful sector under Gordon Browns leadership was the finance sector (oh dear!). We need to bring in Mag Lev technology to connect the regions with London in a reasonable time to replace those regional flights into London and spread the weight of international long haul from London to the regions. This is needed to prepare this Country for the future and hopefully give our kids and regions a chance to recover from the miss-handling management of the last 40 years.
Eye-watering figures 11:58am on 21 Apr 2009 IF THE GOVERNMENT WANT TO GET CAR SALES MOVING THEY SHOULD DROP THE TAX ON ALL NEW VEHICLES SOLD. AS FOR ELECTRIC POWERED CARS; THIS IS NOT A NEW TECHNOLOGY ITS BEEN AROUND FOR YEARS. THE LATEST FIGHT IS HOW TO PRODUCE THE POWER ITSELF. BATTERY RECHARGED OVERNIGHT OR HYDROGEN FUELED CARS SUCH AS THOSE IN USE IN CALIFORNIA. WHAT WE NEED IS A NUMBER OF OPTIONS TO BRING VARIATION TO THE MARKET SUCH AS FUEL STATIONS WITH LPG GAS,HYDROGEN, OR A SIMPLE POWER SOCKET. IT ONLY NEEDS BRAVE GOVERNMENTS TO SET A DATE FOR THIS TO HAPPEN AND TO TELL THE AILING CAR COMPANIES TO GET OFF THEIR BACKSIDES AND CONVERT WHAT IS IN STOCK TO LPG WHILE ALTERING THE LINES TO ONE OF THE 3 VERSIONS I'VE MENTIONED.
Monday, 20 April 2009 11:09pm on 20 Apr 2009 I would have to say that i was surprised that one commentator only stated that that most forecasts had been wrong this past year, its pretty clear that they have been wrong for the past 12 years.
As for Lord Mandelson well he's there to take the embarrassing questions that Brown can't face. His recent talk on boosting green industrial credentials is simple waffle; his attempt to make thing look brighter is so false. So many people in this and other countries will be suffering for many years to come as a consequence of this and other G20 countries mismanagement.
We need a clean sheet when it comes to the Worlds finances; we need to stop speculative squandering of human resources for the benefit of a few.
The strange case of Macau, the tax haven that disappeared 2:19pm on 03 Apr 2009 basically what you're saying is nothing has changed and tax havens will still hide billions possibly trillions of dollars that could and should be used to help the poorest and equalise the spread of wealth.

Another banking bail-out 11:39am on 16 Jan 2009 Why Gordon Brown wants to run a policy that came from the USA I do not understand. If he wants to create a bank, then why not one to loan money to firms in need of investment or to help people in need to buy their houses? What ever happened to the old rule of letting the weak go to the wall? Why should the British Taxpayer constantly bail out Banks who were too greedy and ventured into markets they had no right to be in? Yet again this Government shows how it prefers to help out the big money men instead of working for the people it is supposed to serve.
Poisonous effects of banking crisis 12:22pm on 18 Dec 2008 The continued chase for growth has been a large part of the problem. Instead of looking toward developing society and its infrastructure, too much of this "growth" has gone in to too few pockets.
Capitalism as its is now should be killed off. but to do that we need brave politicians and inventive minds prepared too share.
The perfect time to ditch the pound? 11:55am on 12 Dec 2008 Rather like the Lisbon affair i doubt that the British public would be given a chance to express their view and like the Irish anything decided previously will simply be put to one side.
What we need to start correcting the pain of the current financial system is a worldwide single currency; where one unit in Europe is worth one unit in Africa is worth one unit half way up the Amazon river.
Then we can start to get rid of the vermin that speculate and cause such pain to the general population while they get richer.
If any one cared to check I would bet the largest body of private/commercial money is controlled by the lowest number of people for their own benefit.
"Tough love" in benefits overhaul 12:11pm on 10 Dec 2008 The Prime Minister claims to have saved the Banking System, But should he be proud of saving something that does not work. The Monetary system of the World has to change if they ever want to reduce poverty or keep the western world able to buy the goods made in China.
"Tough love" in benefits overhaul 12:02pm on 10 Dec 2008 I have no problem with healthy people being told to train or educate to find a job but people on disability being threatened! What is a serious condition, Who defines it and do you have block settings or is it dealt by each one being an individual case?
