Should students pay our bills? 8:48pm on 21 Sep 2009 Students should learn how to live on a shoestring. Alcohol is not a necessity. Austerity is a good thing when you're young- it toughens you up. Students today think that blagging some dosh off your folks is survival. Welcome to reality- it couldn't come soon enough.
Grants were suitable in the 70's and 80's when a far smaller proportion of the population went to university or polytechnic. There's no way a government can afford to send the whole population to university- so someone else has to help pay-either the student,their family or business.
Excuse the pun but far too much has been taken for granted.

a.You don't know what you're talking about only God knows the whole truth. (possible)....or
b. Yes I know I've done wrong and God will punish me. (unlikely) ...or
c. God told me to do it. I told him what I wanted to do and he agreed... (more likely)....or
d. I have a narcissistic personality and I'm always right even when I'm wrong.(most likely)

Moores was appointed too quickly without enough consultation with senior players. KP probably got the job too early.We may yet see Vaughan back as captain by the summer if he gets some runs in the meantime expect an experienced player namely Strauss to become captain.

I said before all you need is a bit of land a few animals to live off and start planting your veg. The hippies were right after all!
wealth is a psychological phenomena designed to make you feel like you are doing a bit better than your fellow man. In fact security is unattainable through money or wealth it is a fig leaf. We are all as mortal as we ever were. Not even God can save us!

That is not the 'royal we' Mr Peston has used. The 'royal we' is used to replace 'I' as in 'God and I'(referring to the divine right of kings and queens) as some believed they had, including Mrs Thatcher! Mr Peston might have used 'it' but 'we' is ok in that context I believe. He 's not talking about himself but for us for whom he is paid to comment for and not by divine right!

The truth about white collar crime is clear. It is far more wide-reaching and damaging than the odd serial killer. Bring back the electric chair - if we can afford the electricity.
