Have officials turned a blind eye to Burger? 00:19am on 30 Jun 2009 Seems that a few of the saffers on here think that winning makes it all OK. It's not and Sheridan and probably BOD both deserved yellows.

But Schalk (whers the beef?) Burger - why did Bryce Lawrence bottle it? And is he the video ref for part 3, guess we'll get nothing off him again then. Gouging must be at least a years ban, no arguments.

Almost as bad though to someone who tries to show the better moral side of rugby were the actions of a few saffers .....waving imaginary yellow cards about like tarty footballers. What sort of "men" do that and why? Even the captain, Herr Smit, who I thought was a gent, was caught clearly doing it like some pathetic little kid.

Great game, lots of nasty smells and tastes though. Mostly SA, how proud they must be. And with PDV as the glorious leader, what do we expect?
Extra time 9:27pm on 04 Nov 2008 As has been the case far too often on here the moderation and ridiculous length of time it takes means that a sensible ping-pong discourse is impossible.

Suggest you get some of these new fangled machines that read punched cards Justin, heard they're great at this time.

Europe wide polls give Obama massive popularity leads. Similarly in Canada, Mexico and Japan. That's right, Japan. Now the nuts will say that's because we want a weak president. Believe me, we don't. We want one who can read and write and act rationally after accepting advice from carefully chosen, clever people who are not just shadowy puppeteers.

Even Switzerland, famous for it's socialism, raving Communist politics, devil may care liberal finances, goes 83% for Obama, 7% for McCain. And I think every household has a gun there too!

Sinister robocalls 01:34am on 19 Oct 2008 Can I bring up something else "sinister". Have a look at the fivethirtyeight front page for Saturday 18th, "real" America looks different to Palin, Obama.

They compare the racial disposition of the cities where the rallies etc are held. Palin, who must give idiots a bad name says

"We believe that the best of America is in these small towns that we get to visit, and in these wonderful little pockets of what I call the real America, being here with all of you hard working very patriotic, um, very, um, pro-America areas of this great nation a bad name, says "

538 points out she rabble rouses in cities that are over 83% white. Blacks a third less than average and hispanics less than half of the US average. Now, Sarah, in words of only one syllable, cos I think thats the most you can get - "why is that do you think"?

And the rest of the country isn't real, patriotic, pro America, like her secessionist Alaskan friends (and family!)?

Agree with you. The first program was fascinating. Traced the "American Dream" through from the founding fathers, concentrating on the dream being unfettered consumerism and expansion at the expense of the environment, natural resources. Suggests America's biggest problem will be, again, water. Heaped a mighty bad press on President Jackson!

Quite a play though on Carter being ahead of his time and how the first winds of reality on this were themselves blown away by the cowboy in 1980. And Lake Mead keeps shrinking ...........

Superb television, great photography. And some fascinating Americans.

If you can watch it in the USA please do so.

Why is the election so long, surely it was never meant to tie up so many people for so long at such ridiculous expense?

Back in the day, we could excuse some of it - travel by horse and cart, limited newspapers (also travelling by....), need for stump speeches, etc. Or did that happen?

Surely a couple of months for the primaries, at most, and a month for the main event would be enough? Would the quality go down ;-~

Saving the American taxpayer a fortune. Saving Joe Public a fortune in donations. Costing the TV companies, blonde bimbo's and neocons, and Press a fortune.

And if an incumbent is running that would leave them to run the country. So it would be as well run as it has been lately.

Seems sensible all round to me. Except my last point oops.

I almost have sympathy for the guy now. Surely even McCain wouldn't have used him, given out his name on TV to 70 (?) million people.....would he?

And, of course, knowing how well he vets everyone, he did look into his background, right?

You guys are something. Not quite the literary pretensions of some old comedy favourites on here (MIA2, John3A).

But by golly you do make me laugh.

Innocence and naivetee at these levels are hard to credit. Or is it the opposite of both?
