He will do what he can to get re-elected. The tories are useless too. We are a lost generation heading into a lost decade of misery because we are not evolved enough as a species to build a decent society.

It seems like the investment arms have made their money on the foreign exchanges by shorting sterling and on the stock exchange in a recent period during which the traders have decided many shares are worth two to four times what they were at the latest bottom.

Or is someone telling me that we are becoming or are about to become massively more productive because of the recession?

Something does not add up.

However a silver lining is that the government is doing so well shorting its own currency. It means we don't have to bother going overseas on holiday.

Should the banks back Britain? 2:23pm on 07 Apr 2009 Protectionism is fine when it comes to commerce and private business but the banks are funded by our taxes. And our taxes MUST be invested in overseas businesses and foreign public services. They must not be wasted on benefits scroungers, teachers, nurses, civil servants and other various wastrels in the United Kingdom.

I think the education and health budgets should also focus on supporting schools and hospitals in other countries rather than in this mean spirited focus on the UK and its subjects.

Nationalism may impoverish us 2:22pm on 10 Mar 2009 I know guys who have already lost their IT jobs because they have been given to offshore companies in India.

I will soon lose my job too.

The government support this move of jobs overseas because they want a re-distribution of wealth across the globe.

This policy will mean, in all likelihood, UK citizens becoming much poorer over the next 100 years or so.

Will the people accept it when they cannot feed their kids. Mmm probably not.

Should we have an extremist libertarian approach to jobs? A Global corporation respects no national boundaries. It cares not a jot that it can throw a whole population into turmoil. It is bigger and more powerful than countries. (Will BP have an olympic team soon? Will we cheer it on?)

We have been taught that not only is this good but that any other approach is nigh on evil.

We have been badly taught.
Clawing back Sir Fred's pension 5:29pm on 03 Mar 2009 Fred's behaviour is cringingly debauched.
If he takes this "prize" he will never be respected by anyone in the UK again. He will become a figure of ridicule and symbol for all that is awful and has been awful about the past few years of irresponsibility and greed.

Think about the hospitals and schools that could have been built with that money.

Go to South America Fred and leave us in peace!

Short selling is good.

The market needs both long and short positions to get closer to the true value of an asset.

Without shorting asset prices can remain bloated and the market functions less efficiently.

Banning short selling is like telling everyone to eat and drink but forbidding them from going to the toilet.
Insurance, not nationalisation 10:46am on 22 Jan 2009 I thought that the Lord sounded very agitated and that he came across quite badly.

When asked if the execs of the failed banks should pay the price for failure he explained eagerly that history shows that in these crises most of the blame lies with poorly paid, lower-ranked workers.

He seemed keen to shift the blame away from the highly paid.

In my view he is a rather odd man.

I believe the bank shares have further to fall in the coming months.
Rescuing the economy, not banks 11:31am on 19 Jan 2009 Yes. This was caused, largely, by a housing bubble.
House prices in Britain are amongst the highest in the world in terms of the proportion of income required to service the debts.
High house prices are regarded as good in the UK.
Endless TV programmes tell you that they are good.
Newspapers tell you that high house prices are good.
Radio presenters on radio 5 might cut you short unless you agree that high house prices are good.
The government are doing all they can to maintain high house prices because they think that they are good.

But they are BAD.

And everyone but the credit junky, brainwashed Brits think otherwise.
